Don't you just love watching them run around......mine are still little and they already run everywhere. I know you really wanted some runners and I'm glad you got them. Looks like you got some good poultry too! Silkies are so pretty.

I love looking at her, I havent got the other two yet. Pidgey should be bringing me the drake shortly and tomorrow we are going to get the black female before the bridal expo. Yeah there is a bridal expo at the mall tomorrow. Do you believe my Fiance is the one that found it out and is taking me? It was his idea!

Today me and my bridesmaide and her daughter (my flower girl) went and tried on their dresses. The flower girls dress fits perfect!! Its so awesome!! Im going to take pics for yall. She is a mini bride/ flower girl. My bridesmaides needs alterations. I then went to my THIRD fitting. Now my dress is ready to be Altered. Only about $200 PLUS DOLLARS LATER!! Jeeze I NEVER dreamed I would have this much money invested in JUST what I have on my body!!!! My gown has 7 or 8 layers so just hemming is going to be a chunk of change. PLUS my dress did not come Bustled so I gotta do that too. Also I got an awesome pair of fingerless Opra length gloves and my Sworsky crystal Tiara came in today! That one Im happy about, only $24.99 free shipping from Ebay! YAY, the same tiara was going to cost me 200 Plus at the bridal shop. I know where to shop. I love it! It big beautiful and grand just like my dress.

Now I hope to get in a nap before the cook out tonight.

OK so yesterday I got the black runner hen. Now I have all three runners. Living in my goat pen at the moment. Until I can think of something else for them, but they have plenty of room in there. Then pen is pretty big and my two little goats arent even in there but half the time (to sleep, eat and be safe while im not at home). I'm tickled with these runners, I think the fawn and white hen is already laying. I had her in my Rouen pen before I got the other two and both days she was in there I found an egg about half the size of my rouen eggs. I wonder if Runner eggs are just that much smaller or if she is still pullet age.
Yesterday (Sunday) my soon to be BIL's Girlfriend helped me vaccinate all my birds for Fowlpox. It was hot yesterday and it was a job catching all these birds. You dont realize how many chickens you have til you have to handle and catch each and every one. Fowlpox seems to be common in my area and going around and since the vaccine is so cheep I figure better safe than sorry. The biddies will have to redone in about 3 weeks but all the older birds that took should not have to be redone.

I was so dirty and sweaty when I got through my fiance had an inspiration to build me an outdoor rain shower. His gpa had given us his old sprinkler system when he moved and we had a box full of pvc fittings. It worked out really well. He hung it from an old basketball goal in our yard that we dont use. I will have to take pics for yall tomorrow. The basketball goal is butted up to a large cement slab so when you are under the shower you are not standing on the grass or dirt but clean cement. Now all we need to do is build walls around it of some kind. I told him "Sure! wait til fall to finally build me an outdoor shower after I could have used it all summer long". I guess better late than never and it was HOT yesterday.

We have been brainstorming on our Green house + rain water collection system too. I think I have now come to the idea to make a green house around my entire garden. We already have plenty of bisqueen and my fiance is thinking about making a system to where it will block out the frost but collect and distribute the rain water. It's a work in progress but I think we will have something cool figured out in the long run, hopefully before first frost.

I got some baby butternuts! they are sooo cute!

A while back my fiance's granpa moved out of his house and into an apartment when his wife died. Before he moved he dug up his sprinkler system and gave it to us. Today my fiance VOLUNTARILY installed part of the system into our garden..Now I have an auto sprinkler system in my Garden! YAY!!

Today I moved my lil ol OEGB hen and her two babies to a smaller cage and put my Dark Cornish Bantams in my Old silkie pen. Tomorrow Im going to try and move my trio of juvenile Ringneck pheasants in there with them too. There is plenty of room in that pen.

Tomorrow is my sisters bday I am frantically trying to finish this scarf for her for winter. Hope it works out.

My little fawn and white runner duck has been laying non stop every since she got here.

Today I hope to get to process at least two Musc drakes that are beyond ready and possibly some quail.

Sounds like you are pretty busy, Jen! Have you found the eggs from the fawn runner hen to be getting larger or are they still smallish? I think I read somewhere once that they are prolific layers of white eggs - large compared to chicken eggs, but small if compared to another breed duck.

I would love an outdoor shower. Especially when the boys have been riding and come in covered in mud. And on our hot, humid days . . . it would be wonderful.

well i have only had her since last thursday so not quite a week yet so they havent had time to grow yet. They are about the size of my barred rocks eggs. Yes they are suppose to be prolific layers and they are smaller and dont eat as much. That was a big selling factor on them. We LOVE duck eggs here. Probably eat more duck eggs than chicken eggs since most of my customers just want chicken eggs for eating and my Rouens are great winter layers.

I love my rainshower too!I already used it once.
It started raining on me while I was finishing up two of the Biggest boy drakes. They are the plumpest ones I have seen yet. I have this HUGE SS metal bowl I put put my birds in to soak in ice and salt water for a while before freezing. Normally I can put at least two ducks or three small roos in there..Only 1 drake would fit.

Maybe tomorrow I can do two more, i wanted to be able to do 4 today but because of the rain and all the stuff I have to do this afternoon, not gonna happen. I would still like to work in bathing the dogs. DF has a dentist apt this evening to get 2 wisdom teeth and 2 back teeth pulled. Im gonna have my hands full with him when he gets home! Its gonna be a long day!

Good luck, dental recovery is never fun. I remember getting my wisdom teeth cut out and I was miserable afterwards. Especially this close to the wedding.....whew!
