Be sure they actually had their ears cut off. A breed of goat called a LaMancha actually HAS NO EARS to start with. They are born that way. LaMancha Goats
LaMancha head shot

A friend of mine got the nicest Golden Pheasant from the dog pound. It was in a pen marked "Chicken".

They could actually be LaMancha and considered Nubians with the ears shopped off. Nubians are often a more popular breed, but neither have breed specific colouring so it could be assumed as such. At least.. I am HOPING!

It is a common practice in some parts of the world to cut and deform the ears of goats though. Hopefully that is not what happened here.. Be sure to post pictures!

i never thought that they looked 'cut off' they just look stumpy

I forgot all about the Lamanchas! Oh PLEASE lord let this be what they are, and NOT tortured Nubians!!:fl We are trying to find transportation right now for them from INDY to here. So, as soon as I get them here I will get pics.
She had sent me a file with pics...but being on Dialup, it said it would take like 100 minutes to DL. :th

On todays note......the sky is eerie. Cloudy...and not a drop of breeze...and THUNDERING!!!!! :hide I was planning to get out there and put up a temporary pen today, however.. " tut tut, it looks like rain" Will have to watch the weather closer, and see what its going to do. I really dont want to put these girls in with my sheep...just in case there is an illness.
Its raining now...so..looks like today is an inside day. Thats ok, I need to get some cleaning done anyways.

At our pound EVERY black dog is a Lab and every black and tan is a Shepherd mix. We saw one "Shepherd Mix" that was obviously a Min Pin!

What hoops do I gotta jump through to get them to Ohio??? *snicker*

Oh - are you allowed to use rescue goats as dairy/farm goats? or would the rescue make you spay/castrate your goaties???

Usually rescues expect you to keep them until they are old and pass on. Not allowed to eat them and many don't allow breeding. But this one may be different.
