You're welcome, they are fun. Good luck with the kids, I'm sure they'll wear you out pretty good, as most kids do :D. My husband found a thing on the web last night on how to make rockets using cardboard tubes, a film canister, alka seltzer, and baking soda. It looked really cute and we'll probably do it this weekend if he can find the site again ;)

What a loooooong day! It has been a while since we have had little ones here....and I am WORN OUT! :p The girls are great kids...well mannered...and easily entertained. I decided a day out trip. The sun was shining and warm. We went to the farm where my little sheep are. This woman has the most amazing place. Very tidy, clean..and all together a great day trip for a few city girls. ( heck, I enjoy going out to visit her as well) So, after breakfast...coloring...a little "tv time" as they call it...we got ready for our outing. Its a 40 minute drive through beautifull countryside. Of course, the girls must have asked a dozen time...are we there yet. Finally make it to our destination..and of course our hostess is just wonderfull. She shows us around the place...showing the girls the new lambs, only a few days old. The girls just oooed and awwed over them. ( I was too) She also has the most beautifull GPD's I have ever seen. Gentle Giants for sure. We spent some time there, but had to get home for a late lunch. WOW can these 2 little girls eat!! 2 bowls of cereal for breakfast, half of a Grapple before we left, and orange while we was there, 2 hotdogs and cheese puffs when we got home, and 3 hrs later, a FULL dinner of baked chicken, mashed taters, corn and bread and butter. These are TINY little girls...4 and 7 yrs old. Of course...if they will eat it..I will feed them anything they want....within reason. After we got home, and had lunch, we went to the dirt pile and played out there for about an hour with trucks and shovels. At first they were brushing the dirt from thier jeans..untill I told them it was OK to get dirty. Then it was on!!! Sliding down the dirt pile on thier bumms...im sure thier jeans are ruined! Oh, my sister will be shocked! Went for a nature walk in the woods...gathered eggs..and then dinner and bathtime. A snack before bed...string cheese..a quick bedtime story, and they are sleeping angels!! Tomorrow is supposed to rain all day, so its "craft day" I bought them little wood birdhouses to paint and decorate...we have pompoms, wigglie eyes, felt, buttons, jinglebells, glue..all sorts of things to get crafty with. Should be a fun day..we will bake cookies as well. Sigh...peace and quiet...and a good cup of MUCH NEEDED coffee!!;) I hope everyone had as good a day as we had here.

10:30 am, the girls are already back in the tub. They came outside with me to help with the chicken chores..and unfortunately..found the mud holes. I tried to tell them to not get into it..but with thier brand new mud boots on, they decided they were tough. Hmmmm, ever see how deep a 4 yr old can sink in the mud!? Then struggling to get out before I could get to her, on her bum she went. Now muddy, wet, and crying...she is in the tub..playing with her barbies. All better! :) I think its going to be " one of those days"
Well...it was a great days with the girls. After the mud fiasco...and a warm bath...they settled in to color, and have a snack. 30 minutes later, we were back outside. they painted thier birdhouses and we left them to dry in the sun. Oh, another funny...while they were in the bath, I ran thier laundry...after they had a snack...I was hanging thier laundry on the line and they came out asking " why are you putting our clothes out here!?" So I explained to them this is how we dry the clothes..and the 7 year old asked.." don't you have a dryer?" They were worried that the " bugs would land on them, or birds would poop on them" After assureing them they would be OK, we went out to the barn, and got the chair hammock to hang in the tree. They spent another 2 hours learning to climb trees..and swinging in the sun. We all got a little sunkissed today. The oldest skinned her knee climbing the tree and when I asked her if she was ok, she said, " I can take it, I am a farmer now" Out of the mouth of babes!! Overall...it was a great day with my nieces. I printed out several pictures for them to take to school next week, and share thier adventure on the "farm" with thier friends.
I called the local rental place today for the pull behind post hole digger....looks like this weekend we will be getting our fence started, hopefully at LEAST get the posts in...for the sheep pasture. One step closer...I am so excited! OK, time for this "old farmer" to get some shuteye! Tomorrow is or last day with the neices, I want to make it as memorable as I can.

That is AWESOME!!! Get 'em while they're young! It sounds like you all sure had a good time. They will probably remember this for a long time...I hate to see parents that won't let their kids get dirty and just be kids, you know?

11 pm....AHhhhhhhhhhhhhh( thats a sigh) The girls and thier parents just left. again....SIGH. Its so quiet here, I can actually hear myself breath. ( I need to quit smokeing) LOL
We DID have a grand time. The girls learned...its ok to get dirty...you dont have to wimper or whine over every little scratch...Oh, and whineing only gets you made fun of! :p OK, So I stooped to thier level. BUT, it stopped the whining! ;) By the end of each day....they would ask me... Can we have TV time now? I tried to keep them out from the front of that "one eyed monster" as much as possible. Thier parents were amazed at all the stories the girls had to ell them. I guess they just figured I would plop them in front of the TV with snacks for 3 days. HA! Altho....today was a cold, windy, off and on rainy day..so there was quite a bit more TV time. If I have to hear....Who lives in a pineapple under the sea...SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.....one more time...I think my head might explode. Im not sure who wrote that stuff, but I think a urinalises is in order! ;)
Tomorrow hubby and I will be "planting" the fenceposts for the pasture. Hopeing to get 30 done in one day. Hmmmmm, i dunno...but we are gonna give it heck! :p I want my little sheepies here! :D
OK, the house is once again quiet...the news is on..( something I havent seen in 3 days) So I think I am going to call it a night.

Justusnak, I love reading your humorous prose! So very funny about the Sponge Bob song! :D Poor kids don't know how to have their own fun anymore, do they? I remember my mom having to threaten us to get us to come in at night for our baths! :p

Why Thankyou Bee! ;) I too remember being threatened to come inside " when the lamp post light came on" Funny how each generation changes...and so drastically! I just saw a report on the local news...the new generation of kids will live sicker, and shorter lives than thier paents. They say, from lask of excercise, and poor eating habits. Well DUH! I wonder how much they got payed to figure THAT one out? Heck, I could have told them that for free!! ( altho, I would have liked to be payed HALF of what those Dr and researchers were payed) Oh the sheep I could have!!! :D
Speaking of sheep...
4 April 09

This will be a day I will remember...for at LEAST a few days. :gig
Hubby brought home the rented gas powered Auger. It was fence building day! :th We were able to gt 24 posts in, for the sheep pasture. Its not HUGE...but I think large enough for the 3 I will start with. ;) I am already planning to expand it. The posts are 8 to 10 feet tall, black locust. We have goopy wet clay that the locals call "soil" HA! Can we say...quicksand? Took us 6 hrs to get just the posts in. I feel like I have been chased and run over by a team of mules! My hands are raw...my feet are throbbing, and well...the back..its done with! And thats just the posts!! We still have to stretch the fence, and put in a gate. :th But..we are one step closer to bringing my babies home!! :D Well, they are not babies...really, one is 9 yrs old, but so sweet...I cant waite to watch them in the pasture. I already hung my hammock chair in the tree near the pasture. It looks good hanging there. Im sure I will not have a chance to actually sit in it! But, it looks good! I have one other small thing to finish IN the barn...build a divider wall. The sheep get half the barn, the other half is for storage...for now! :D
Oh well...another semi productive day...got a little sunkissed..and Monday we are to get snow. :rant Yeah, THATS FAIR!!! NOT!!! COME ON SUMMER!!
