It is like my black raspberries - they are SO WORTH getting a poke or two!

I love them best frozen then blended into a little homemade ice cream and milk. For the best milkshake EVER!

Oh, I LOVE the black raspberries. I usually make a few jars of jelly...then can some. I have a great eggless recipe for a home made, from scratch chocolate cake...When its almost cool..I take a wooden spoon, and make holes in the top...the mix 1/4 cup black raspberry jelly, and 1 pint canned raspberries...mix em together, and drizzle over the cake...top with a little whipped cream, and call it a day.! :drool

Sunday...what a beautifull day! The sun was shining...light breeze....easy day. DH and I walked our small patch of woods..about 2 acres..and selected a nice maple to transplant. Its about 10 ft tall...and straight as an arrow! We dug it up and planted it at the outside end of where the sheep pasture will be. This will eventually help provide a little more shade for them. We inspected the fenceline....well, where the fenceline USED to be! :somad There is a small trailor on the south side of our woods..and the owner decided she wanted to "claim" a small portion of OUR woods, for her backyard. She tore out the fence, cleared a few trees...and tried to make it look like her yard. Well...her and I had words last summer over this..and I informed her I WOULD be putting the fence back...and will have LARGE PROCTECTIVE DOGS running my woods. She tried to tell me that she didnt tear my fence down..and that she was only " cleaning up a little so there are less snakes" To which I replied..."you dont like snakes? Move back to town!" She crumpled the fence and drug it INTO my woods. UGH!!!! " why I oughtta" :smack So, another job on the list for this summer. I just dont understand how some peoples brains work...or DONT work!
DH and I trimmed back a few trees...for easier mowing this summer...and really just walked the property, makeing plans. I had a large quail pen I wasnt useing, and had an add on Craigslist for sale. Someone came by and bought that today...glad its gone. I had intentions to raise quail...then lost interest. No place to house them in the winter....the cost of heating them..just isnt worth it for me. Thats more money for my fencing! ;) Made pork country style bbq ribs for supper..and just had an easy day. DH watched NASCAR....I played with the baby ducks...and just enjoyed a lazy day. I know these days will be rare..so, I try to tkae one when I can! :D

Let me start by saying...for some people...there needs to be a LOT more chlorine in thier gene pools!
I had an ad on Craigslist...FREE, Woodstove for SCRAP only. This is an older model King woodstove. There is a huge hole in the side, and not repairable. This offer is for SCRAP only. It is very heavy, will take 3 or 4 men to lift. I will not be able to help load. Approximate weight, 500 pounds.
Now...in reading that...one should know... 1) its not useable and 2) its HEAVY
So, I get a few emails..and the first guy calls...said he will get a few friends, and come get it today. I am so happy to be rid of it. It was sitting in my barn, where I want to put the sheep. DH and I can NOT move it. So, the guy shows up....ALONE. :smack He takes a look at it, comments he MIGHT be able to fix it....( there is NO way without replaceing the entire firebox) Then decides...he will "roll" it to his trailor. He struggles with it a bit....of course DH is at work..so I had to help him "roll" this thing to his trailor, then lift it in. :rant WHY dont people listen!?? Oh well, at least the big brown monster is gone! :ya
So, I had to get some fence posts put in...and string wire for the berries. Got 5 posts in, and 3 rows of wire in. Tie some white plastic to the wire...hopefully that will keep ME from walking into it! LOL
Then, the cat is stareing at the downspout. Hmmmm, silly cat. So I walk over there..and I can hear a bird stuck in the downspout!! I start banging on the downspout..some straw falls out, so I get a stake, and start pulling it out..LOTS of it...still no bird..bang..pull, bang...pull..out come a starling! scared me!! Then, I hear ANOTHER bird..so, bang ...pull..bang...pull..WOW they had a lot of straw in there...out comes a dead bird...then more straw...and another live one. Now, we just had these gutters and down spouts put in about a week ago. They are fast builders!! Time to get some covers for the gutters! DARN! Have I said how much I detest starlings!?? They trash everything..they are obnoxious...and filthy! YUK! DH will NOT be happy to see what I got out of there. He was just up there the other day, ran the hose down the gutters...and we thought they ran clean. Its not an easy job getting on the house...30 or so feet in the air...and only an OLD extension ladder. I can tell you, he will NOT be happy, haveing to get back up there.
Tomorrow I am planning to get the last of the garbage from the barn...and start rakeing the gravel flat....and maybe start on the divider wall. DH will have to help build the doorway. Im not good with squareing things. LOL
Oh well, another day...another few jobs done! :weee

Not a whole lot going on today. I DID get to go visit my little sheep! AWWWWWWwwwwwww :love I cant waite to get them home. Unfortunately, Eleanore, the one that was pregnant, miscarried 2 little lambs. :hit She is so sad looking. I am hopeing to get them here soon, weather permitting that I can get the fence in!
I am hopeing that a change of place for Eleanore will spruce up her spirits. She wont be around the other mommies...wishing that she had hers. They are all so well taken care of...I just hope I can be as good of a sheep momma as the current owner is!
Well, Off to the barn...to get a few more things done out there. The faster I get going on it...the sooner I get to have them here!!

Oh no, what happened? Is this her first pregnancy? Had she been having complications or was it just a random thing?

She is an older Ewe. Was an accidental breeding I think. The Ewe is 9 yrs old. I dont know how old they have to be before you stop breeding them. I dont mind her age. I dont want to breed anyways. I just want something to eat all the grass...and thats friendly and I will have her wool. She is a beautifull Chocolate brown color. :love I just hope she pulls through OK.
