Woke this morning to thunder, lightening, and rain, rain, rain!! Jeesh! I think we got 2 inches today. Whew! We sure didn't need this. I really HAVE to get in the garden...and soon!!
I was frustrated I didn't get my last round of seeds planted! But I did use it as an excuse to do nothing. Finished a book, baked some cookies - sometimes a rainy day is good for us! :)

That's so sad about the girl. And all the stories about the kids are so sad. :( I almost think the rural poor are worse off than urban poor. They can go far out into the country, and no one really knows what's going on.... DH & I have talked about becoming foster parents - maybe that's something we can plan on once we get our new house built. In the trailer here, the poor kid would have to sleep on the couch!

Just be careful if you do foster care! I know someone who used to do it, but no longer does. The rules and regulations became a nightmare! Plus, w/some of the situations that these children come from it can be a nightmare for the foster parents. I'm not saying not to do it, but just to be careful.

SO sorry hillfarm, really I am, I would LOVE to send you some of this rain. I walked to the garden today, just to take a look...and the water on the garden is GREEN! YUK!! I have all these tomato plants to get in the ground...and no "dry" ground to put them in. Oh, and the tomato plants hubby was getting from a friend at work....I said...10 to 15........he sent about 50!! :th Tomorrow I am going to go to the wood shop, and see what I have out there I can build some containers to plop these tomato's into.

OK, so hubby is off today. He works 4- 10's, off Fri,Sat,Sun. I am going to TRY to get in the garden and plant those tomato plants and the giant sunflowers. With all the rain we got the other day...I will probably be sinking up to my ankles in mud. UGH! I will have to build up hills to plant on tho. This will be fun! I have to get them in tho...or I will lose them for sure. They are in loose dirt, in a box top.
Yesterday my DS3 and I went berry picking. We got about a gallon of black raspberries. yum. I put them i n the freezer for now...until I can get the time to make jelly. I have a few bags in there now, so I will get a good mess when I have the time to get around to it.
Tomorrow we are having a memorial for my son. :( We decided to not have a BIG one....just hubby, me, and our kids with their families. No inlaws, outlaws....LOL keeping it personal.
Had to close the house up, it got really hot and humid...and there was no way to sleep. We had the house opened for 3 days...I was loving it! I really hate running the AC. Supposed to get low 90's I think over the next few days, with high humidity. I might try to get a few loads of laundry on the line before I head out to the garden...maybe. :p
I have to get this darned fly...that keeps landing on my head FIRST! I HATE FLIES!!!!!

So, Saturday we had a "cookout" in memory of our Son. Of course it rained....but DS2 and I cooked out in the rain, laughing the whole time, getting soaked! So, we just ate indoors, not a biggie. We didn't have a whole lot of people here...just 9 people. As the day wore on, hubby and the 2 sons started drinking beer...to let go a little. We played dominoes for a while, then the 3 guys started playing a board game, Risk. That went on into the night. At least there was no fighting, no hard feelings...the day went well.
Sunday's plan was to leave about 11 am, and drive to Ohio, to the FIL for fathers day....well, when 1:30 rolled around, I knew this was going to be a messed up day, I just didn't know how bad. We finally head out, and get about an hour from the house, and the truck started over heating. :th So, we pull into a parking lot, and let it cool. Hubby had 2 gallon jugs in the truck, one with water, one with antifreeze. After it cooled he put that in, and we stood there watching it run back out. We decided to limp back home, and get MY truck, and try again. By the time we got home it was 3:30... 3:45. We were supposed to be in Ohio by 1. I called the family let them know we were running late, and had issues. Get home, load up in my truck, and make the 1 1/2 hr drive to Ohio. My truck is not as comfortable as hubby's, mine is an S10 he has a 1 ton. There were 3 of us going. It rained like HE double toothpicks all the way there. So, of course it slowed us down quite a bit. It was almost 5:30 by the time we get there...everyone had already eaten, but they left the food for us to get something to eat. By this time we were starving...my stomach thought my throat had been cut.... We had a good day while we were there, playing corn hole...visiting..the rain was off and on all day. We didn't get home until 11 pm! Time flies when you are having fun!
This morning we took the truck in to the shop...first he said..." blown head gasket...aka: $1,000":th We just don't have that in the savings...I wanted to just cry. We are still paying on the truck...figures! Then, while we stood there, trying to figure what to do...our mechanic said...oh, its not the head gasket...its the intake manifold has a leak. OK, this is better, but STILL $500!!!!! So, we left it there...hoping it will be finished tomorrow. This will drain what little savings we had...but we have to have the truck. Now I have to figure how to feed all the people that will be here this weekend. 9 extra mouths to feed, for 4 days. I need to get to cleaning this house, and try to figure where everyone is going to sleep. I just want this month OVER!!!!!

Just a FYI if you ever overheat again, you do not need to let the truck cool down B4 adding water and/or antifreeze to it. But, you do have to be careful. You can add stuff to the radiator as long as the truck is running. I've done it B4.

Yup, I know...but, there was NO way we were going to be able to get the cap off the radiator....it was hissing something terrible, under a LOT of pressure. After he got the cap off, he started it and added water.

It's Tuesday..ALREADY!?? Ohhh, no...I have 3 visitors coming Wednesday evening.......5 more on Saturday...and all are staying until Monday. I am going to have bodies all over the house for a few nights. We only have ONE spare bed...everyone else will have to sleep on the couches and floors. Oh, waite! On MY carpets?? Oh jeesh, NOW I have to clean the carpets...today! I need to get food in the house...clean the bathroom, hang the blankets on the line to "defunk" them. They are clean, just been packed in the closet...need to air them a bit. Oh, sweet Monday will be here before you know it, and I will have my house back again. Then I will be able to get settled back into my routine...and before I know it...canning. I can't believe this year is almost half over...already!! :th Im off...where is that carpet cleaner?? Broom, get me my broom for the cobwebs...why isn't that washing machine running yet? Where is my super human cape!???
