And THAT'S why I have a locked lock on the gate to my horses. It's right next to the road, and I DON'T need to get a call that they're out.
Yup, mine is by the road as well. We have a lock on it, just don't usually lock it. Haven't had a problem in a long time...and I always forget to take the key, and have to walk back to the house. LOL. Darned kids!!

Sorry to hear about the sheep drama, how's your foot doing? Sounds like you've spent a lot of time on it this week since getting the rod out--it is healing up nicely?

I have been on it quite a bit, and paying for it at night. I just have quite a bit I need to get caught up on.

Woke this morning to thunder, lightening, and rain, rain, rain!! Jeesh! I think we got 2 inches today. Whew! We sure didn't need this. I really HAVE to get in the garden...and soon!! Hubby called me tonight from work, a friend gave us 15 or so Roma tomato plants. They are about a foot tall...Oh, and about a dozen "giant sunflowers" :weee I guess his friend had sown 400+ and only wanted to plant 300. He said he has about 150 to get rid of.....FREE! I already have 10 planted, so only needed a few more. I am almost out of room. Dang! free plants, and I don't have the room for them! Grrrrrr. I am going to pull the peas, and put the roma's in there. The peas are about finished, thanks mostly to the goose! :rant
So....I need to get in the garden, soon!
OK, I was sitting here tonight, and my neighbor called me. She had let her daughter, who is 14, go to a friends house to ride her horse. Well....the "friend" didn't want to give her a ride home, its about 5 miles.....in the country....DARK...one lane road. So my neighbor called me saying she is out with HER boyfriend, about 45 minutes away, and her daughter is walking home.....can I go get her? I was LIVID!! This is a very pretty, LITTLE 14 yr old girl, walking in the dark, alone, in the country. Oh, I went after her, and gave her a lecture all the way home....took the long way. I scolded her like she was one of my own. Then I called her mother, and scolded her as well. GRRRR. Some people!!! By the time I got her home, and I got home....my hands were shakeing...my head hurts....I have watched these kids grow up for the last 6, almost 7 years, and they are dear to my heart. I need a hot bath, and to unwind. NOT the adrenalin rush I needed this late.

That's scary! We had a neighbor like that. She had 7 kids and left 4 of them with me right after me moved there and the very first time I had ever met her for an ENTIRE DAY! The youngest was an infant and the oldest she left was maybe 5 or 6. Aint no way I would leave any of mine with a stranger! The people the girl had gone to visit needed some of that scolding or worse themselves for letting her walk.

When my kids were little we had these little snotty nosed obviously neglected little kids (a girl usually and sometimes her little brother) that used to come to my house wanting to play with my girls. They lived several blocks away. I felt SO sorry for them and wanted to be kind. My hubby on the other hand (a usually VERY kind gentle person) had a major FIT!!

They were NOT to come on our property and NOT to play with our kids. I was SO mad at him!!! Then he explained himself. He did not want our house to be the last place those kids were seen alive!! :ep Scarey stuff, but horribly true.

I ended up following them home one time from a distance to see where they lived and then watched the house for a while. I discovered that their "mom" (and I use the term VERY loosely) would actually put plates of food on the porch for them to eat so they would leave her and her "friends" alone to ....??

I called in several reports to family services over a period of time. Then one day they were just gone. I never found out the circumstances of them leaving. I just hope those kids finally got some care and love.

WOW!! Some people should NOT be allowed to breed!! I hope those poor kids are safe somewhere...and grew up to know what a real home is like. That is just so sad. :(
