I wish you could see my yard right now Kel. It is something I am sure you would love to see. We have a huge flock of Robins migrating through our neighborhood - HUNDREDS of them. I noticed they were eating up little snow scraps so I put out a feed tub of liquid water. I bet I have 25 Robins, a Blue Jay and some snow birds in my yard right this minute!

God seems to always send little miracles for us to enjoy.

I hope you and yours all have a very merry CHRISTmas! :)
Robins IN December??!!

We have 6 cardinals, 4 blue jays, 2 nuthatch and a slew of chickadees, sparrows, brown eyed juncos. No robins here!! Although we DO have a small patch of grass showing since we've had rain today.

They are unusual for us as well. I wish I could have bottled up the day today - I would have mailed you some. :)

We now have year round robins in CT. We still have some that head south but we will see some right through the winter. You can definitely tell when the others return though. It goes from one here and there to huge flocks!
My mother has a swampy area behind her house. The cardinals love it. One day she counted 34 males at one time back there!

Actually robins are found year round in most of the US. But in the winter months, they're not generally found in yards-no worms. Instead, they're in the woods. I never really saw robins year round until I got the horses. Now, it's rare for a day to go by when I don't see at least one. Here's a map showing their range.

We got BIG news on New Year's Day.

Son Jon proposed to Erin (his girlfriend of the past 6 1/2 years)!

And she said yes!

So there is FINALLY a wedding in the works. :weee

TR and I and Kel and the grands are all jumping up and down for joy!!

New Year's we hit a high of 55. The snow started again on Tuesday, and we now have about 4 inches on the ground and it is still coming down. The snowflakes falling today are those large gorgeous ones that land softly and shimmer in the glow of lights. Just a pretty picture.

We will be taking Christmas down this week-end; we usually wait until after Epiphany.

Today we had pork tenderloin with lentils and potatoes for dinner. Good winter food.

TR has been busy with work at the hospital and the library and his Disciples class. My class on the book of Hebrews doesn't get back into session until the first week of February.

Have a blessed day! Have fun!

:bun Yay for a wedding!!!
Can't take credit for the picture but I'll pass your compliment on to my mother. That picture is only a fraction of the cardinals they can usually see out their windows!
We started taking Christmas down tonight. Don't know if we'll get the tree out. The town came to pick them up this morning but we keep ours up through the 6th. We usually chip it up anyway to use as mulch.
