Well, last night the lights flickered for about half an hour, but we did only lose power for 5 minutes, thank God!

We're under flood watch today, although it hasn't rained here yet. :/ And the sun has made some appearances, although they are brief.

Bought the rest of the ingredients for the Strawberry Cassata Cake I'm taking to sister C's on Saturday. I will make the sponge cake today and finish making and assembling the cake tomorrow night. Sister L is bringing her broccoli casserole and BIL D is bringing is Mexican dip, which I MUST get the recipe for..... :D

I have found that the honey removed from the hive is very thick, like a creamed honey. Probably due to the crystalization of the aster honey; but I am just guessing there.

The next beek association meeting is June 18. The guest speaker will be telling how to handle honey products for Fair Showing. I can't think of her name off the top of my head, but she has won 1st place for extracted honey and honeycomb.

Ooooppps there goes the smoke detector! Lunch must be done!

You mean you burn things in the kitchen! :ep I thought you were a pro. ;)

I found this cake recipe that I want to do: Key Lime Cake I've had a thing for lime lately.

But Mom was talking last night about feeling fat and unhealthy and so forth. She'd like to go back to the wellness department at our chiropractic clinic. They helped her get off insulin shots, but it is expensive coaching and an hour's drive away. We do need to do something to better our health. I'm just so busy that grabbing a quick bite of whatever has been my habit of late. :(

Too bad you can't take the time on one of your days off to cook up some healthy meals for several days at a time that will either keep in the fridge/freezer and be ready to warm up/thaw when meal time comes around.

The smoke alarm didn't go off. We had salads for lunch today.

That was my attempt at humor..... :p

ETA: Becca, there are lots of good things that you could do for meals. I know Prevention has a new book called 400 Calorie Fix Cookbook. Each meal is designed for healthy eating that max at 400 per meal. TR and I made a couple of them and found them to be good, but it isn't a book I would spend money on. We borrowed it from the local library. In warmer weather, when fresh produce is more readily available, that is my favorite menu base to work with. One World Vegetarian has some great recipes as well, and might be at your local library.

This morning TR found quite a bit of flashing all over the yard. I am hoping it is loose stuff that Paul left to finish the roofing job, and not flashing that has blown off the house already. Paul won't be back until next week, I think. He isn't sure.

It was dry all morning and early afternoon. But the rain has finally arrived. It is coming down steady but not all that hard. I hear the thunder grumbling though; not booming. The flash flood warning for our area has been extended until 4am Friday morning. Temperature is at 72 and there is a slight breeze coming in the windows. :D

We had cheeseburger salad for lunch today. The sun was out, so TR and I had lunch on the back deck. With iced green tea with blueberry. The carpenter bees are all upset with Paul's renovation of the storage overhang, so they have been buzzing the back deck for the past few days. A couple of the bees are acting just like hummers - chasing each other - so maybe it is a territorial war. :/ Anyway, they were buzzing TR's head quite a bit, so we moved to the porch swing to finish our lunch.

I know I have posted the salad recipe here before ... here

Today we got some produce from a friend, so I have potatoes drying out on the breakfast nook table in front of the window. She also gave us some carrots, so TR wants me to make carrot slaw, but I'm out of raisins.

The landlords have not noticed the taped sinkhole at the end of the drive yet. I went to look at it and yo can see the water running in the bottom (part of the drainage ditch). You know, the one that will never have problems because it was built to withstand heavy milk trucks and construction equipment. sheeesh!

Well Becca, it poured buckets here! And we lost power for about 10 minutes.

Right this minute, the skies are a bit clearer and the sun was try to make an appearance a moment ago.

... but it is still raining and the thunder is still grumbling..........
