We got hail tonight and are supposed to get 1 to 2 inches of snow tonight.
We had that here, too. I had to go secure the chicken pens up tight, make sure everyone stays warm enough tonight.

Did you see dateline the other night? They were reporting on a recent scam that someone was doing. They were gaining access to people's credit histories and then calling them telling them they were from the city where the credit company was from and telling them that they had issued a warrent for their arrest and that unless they wired money immediately they were sending the police to come and pick them up. They were scaring people to death! These guys were making tons of money and because they asked for wire transfers through western union there was no history of any of it. They busted the guys soon after doing the story. Crazy what people will do to make money nowadays!

Keljonma, Ohio now goes by the driver's license for the jury pool instead of the voting records.
I was called for jury duty just before the switch. It was for a young guy accused of stealing tattoo equipment. He was covered in tattoos. The jury pool of his "peers" were all middle aged and seniors. There were no young people in the pool and I don't see how we could be considered his peers. I work with a prosecuting attorney and she said peer group is the defendent's community, not age group.
After this I decided not to vote anymore to remove myself from the pool of jurists. Hard decision because I'm very political and have worked for the Ohio Governor campaign. Well, I told my friend, the prosecutor and she informed me that they don't go by that anymore and use the licenses now.
She said they'd go to senior centers and pick a pool for that day, the seniors had no choice in the matter. So many Ohioans quit voting to avoid jury duty that Ohio had to go to the licenses.
She said it won't significantly increase the pool much because so many young people lose their licenses due to points and lack of insurance. Some areas like mine are so population sparse that we can pretty much count on being called repeatedly.

One last note-My Dh had just had his transplant surgery, I was his care giver and it did not give me a pass!!

I have also heard of a couple scams:
They call you up saying they are from the FBI and that you missed your jury duty notification and there is now a warrant for your arrest and if you give them your social security number they will dismiss the warrant. I guess they are pretty mean and forceful about it.

They call you up claiming they are from AT&T and are doing test calls and want you to push #90...which in turn gives them access to your phone line and run up long distance charges.

They are also calling up the elderly and claiming to be one of their grandchildren that are in trouble and they need grandma's bank account info to bail them out.

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I always give my kiddos STRICT orders not to answer the phone or door if I am not home. I will talk on the answering machine and then they can pick it up. If it is anyone else they listen to the message and then call me on my cell phone and I can call the person back if I know their number off hand. But, if it is my mom, DH, bff, or MIL they always call my cell phone after getting the machine anyways and if it is anyone that does not have my cell phone number I probably do not want to talk to them anyways.

Ugh...we keep getting a "your car warranty is about to expire" call on my cell phone about 5 times a week! It is so annoying! We paid cash for both of our vehicles and did not buy a warranty to start with or give them my cell phone number!!

Since we just changed our phone number when we got the cable line I hardly get any phone calls at all!!
