Had a good day running around yesterday....went to see Nanny for a little while. She has no idea who we are....sad. She looks good though and seems in good spirits. She was talking and laughing with us but I had to tell her who I was about 12 times...I hate alzheimers.

On a lighter note, found out that the kids locked my son in a dog crate while they were playing indians outside at Nanny's and fed him jelly beans......you could hear them going wooo wooo woooo woooo all around the yard and then we look out there and my son is in the dog crate in the middle of the yard like they were gonna roast him or something

I love it when kids use their imaginations!

We are getting the paperwork for the perk test today and Chad is going to take it to the county today to see if we can get the building permit so we can do the driveway. I think we're going to be able to get the well for $6000 or less, that was the quote for a 300ft well and I don't think we'll need to go quite that deep. Don't know how much the septic is gonna be yet, couldn't get a quote until we had the perk test done. We are going to put in the driveway ourselves so we will only have to pay for fuel and gravel.

I baked a loaf of bread this morning and used a duck egg instead of a chicken egg......man did that bread RISE! I don't think it will fit in a sandwich bag :/

My daughter just came in screaming that she wants "O-grit".....for those of you that don't speak 2 yr old, that's yogurt.

"O-grit" LOL that's cute. I love little kid words. My DD used to say "Bingers and Bumb" as opposed to fingers and thumb and "Eyebow" instead of Elbow.

I'm sorry about your nanna. I've had family with Alzheimers that I helped take care of - she never knew who I was - but would look at me and say "Honey, do I know you?" - My Great Grandmother. It was aweful.

What is it with little boys and the dog crate? My DS loves to climb into our dogs crate. LOL He'll shoot with his finger gun as you walk by LOL

Hoping things continue to go well for you and your house/permits.

So sorry to hear about your Nanny. Been there, done that...and its hard. My grandfather had Sundowners. Very similar to Alzheimers. At one point, my son came in to visit my G pa, and had on his headphones. G'pa asked what it was, and my son let him listen to it. Unfortunately, my son was listening to "Who let the dogs out" Once the Sundowners hit hard...G'pa would lay in his bed screaming...WHO LET THEM DOGS OUT? SOMEONE LET THEM BACK IN PLEASE!!!" it was funny, and sad at the same time.
As for your septic...we just had one put in last December. Paid almost 8 grand!! I hope you can get one cheaper...that smarts in the wallet!

Friday

Well, everyone cross your fingers that it doesn't rain tomorrow morning so I can take my drakes to the chicken swap :fl

My MIL is coming in for the weekend and I spent the morning cleaning both bathrooms, sweeping, general clean up (I don't dust...period), changing sheets, washing old sheets/bedspreads/blankets, and generally trying to rid everything of the layer of lab hair.

Hubby has to get the dog crate down from the top of the shed for me and I have to get up extra early to round up the boys for the swap. I really hope I can get rid of them....I have 2 fawn and white and 2 black runners. I have decided to keep 2 black females and one black drake for now until I know what my friend wants to do about the duck eggs. If her daughter can tolerate them then I may just sell her a trio of ducks instead of delivering eggs

I am keeping a trio of chocolates regardless....they're my favorite!

I am still deciding what to do about the quail....I want hubby to process them and try them for dinner and then if we like them we may see about more. I want more hens too....had a problem with Ozzie the mammoth roo the other day. He jumped on my DD a couple of times before I was able to whack him with a golf club 3 times. She is only a little bit taller than him so I'm sure it was just him challenging her for dominance. Scared her more than anything. Didn't even put a scratch on her. I'm keeping a close eye on him. :rant

Sunday

rain rain and more rain....blech.

MIL left this morning after I made her a pan full of sausage balls :D

We had a great visit with her this weekend and she watched the kids for us so that Chad could go with me to the chicken swap to "supervise" :D

We ended up selling all 4 of our extra indian runner ducks (1 black pair and 2 fawn and white males) for $50 and the lady that bought them offered Chad a job at TSC part time and gave us 2 mallard babies to boot!

We put them in the bathtub this morning and they were swimming all around the place and eating some greens, diving and preening. It was great! Now hubby wants to keep about 20-30 chickens to raise and sell eggs and breed ducks so the neighbors don't have to deal with the crowing. I showed him Holderead's site and he had a field day!

Quail A has gotten me drooling over the sebastopol geese.....Chad just looked at me and said, "do you just want to get some already?"

He has agreed to put the $50 we made at the chicken swap towards an incubator so we can start hatching out some ducks!

Your mallard babies are so cute! Our 3 mallard ducks are working on their nests already. One gal has hid her nest, so we have no clue how many eggs she has laid. We figure once she is done laying her clutch she will disappear for awhile - but that's less work for my incubator! :p

The other two gals are laying theirs in the calf barn and we've been collecting them for the 'bator. Gary the Duck has been doing a good job of keeping his mallard gals all to himself. :p

When you get that 'bator I'll happily sell you some Sebbie eggs LOL
