I don't necessarily mean physical stuff right away. Little things like favorite foods, chair and book prepped the way he likes, certain clothing specially pressed, notes in lunch or even unexpected places like the glove box or pants pocket.
I have to add a bit of humor to this...
Once I hung a pair of my lace panties from my hubbies rear view mirror so he would see them when he went to work in the morning.

Now, fast forward about six months...

We were on a road trip and my son sneezed in the car and blew boogers all down his face. I searched the car and my purse for a tissue, but couldnt find one (bad mom). I looked in the glove box and guess what I found! Yep, them oh so impratical panties served a great purpose that day!

I am afraid I can one up that one :hide
I use cloth pads. Real pretty ones at that.
For emergencies I keep a couple in the glove box of our car.
Poor DH was desparate for a tissue once, and well, those pads were all that were available :gig

I sent a very explicit text to my hubby, :love only i sent it to my boss by accident. :th
WE had a meeting that very morning reminding everyone of the importance of checking who we send our emails to. :hide

That was mortifying.

Good luck Lori. I hope you look back in ten years on how far you have come and so has your marriage and how lucky you are in life. :thumbsup I wish you nothing but the best.

I've never been romantic or lovey dovey....the first 4 or 5 months maybe when we were together but once we settled into a routine I kind of slacked off on it.
I know this sounds weird, but I always wanted a good husband and never could find one...at least one that didn't already have a wife. I had a very bad one of my own once. :(

I can't imagine, if he treated me with love and respect, not going out of my way to make him know how much I loved him at all times~I don't think it would get old to me. I guess I'm just a hugger and a toucher but I would LOVE to have someone to lavish some physical affection upon...not so much the sex thingy but just someone to pet, hug, kiss and be kind to.

Of course, that is coming from someone that was married for less than a year, so who knows how I would feel for the long run...but I can't imagine not showing physical affection every day.

Some of us are born "touchers" and others need more space. I personally have small personal space needs, but I am NOT a toucher. The only people I really ever touch is my husband (who I have always hugged, and touched A LOT) and my kids (who I really don't hug or touch now that they are grown).

Working with emotionally disturbed people it is IMPORTANT to always ask before even touching an arm to assist them. People have very different touch needs. Since you seem to have touch issues (at least right now) and hubby needs more touch I would suggest getting a massage book. Learn to give him a whole body massage. Even if it is kept totally platonic he should get his touch needs filled up a bit. Most of us would LOVE a long relaxing massage. Also that would keep YOU in the drivers seat. It might help with the trust issues that are present as well. My hubby loves a good massage.

Just my 2 cents worth. :)

FF that is a great idea.

My hubby needs more physical affection that I do...while I am affectionate, I also like my own space. He would happily spend the evening on the sofa with me draped all over him, while I like to stretch out....alone!

Massage is a great idea! And just the tactile sensation of rubbing those tissues is a great relaxation tool for me....it's much like making bread~rhythmic and soothing.

Note: If you use the correct body mechanics your hands won't get fatigued. That is the complaint I get most often from wives...they get tired of massaging way before hubby gets tired of being massaged! :p

Most people think of massage they think of back rubs.

Your hands won't get as tired if you switch up body parts. Arms, hands, legs, feet, scalp, and the most intimate area of them all ..... studies prove this .... the FACE!

If you want to be SURE this all stays platonic, then start with a big spaghetti dinner, a couple of beers for him and a warm room. Let those carbs do their job and he will be TOUCHED contented and happy! and so will you. ;)
