Thursday

Got up this morning after a trying day yesterday and took the kids to the library for story/craft time. Then took 2 full garbage bags of clothes to my friend Favi for her son. She is so tired.....she reminds me of me during the height, or shall I say, bottom of my depression. We told the kids to go outside, brewed a pot of coffee and watched a chick flick. She looked like she needed some time to sit still and relax. I got up every 5-10 minutes and checked on the kids. Everyone had a good time and I got rid of lots of stuff.

Last night I was locking up to go to bed and noticed that the duck house was open. Chad was the last one out there with them and was supposed to have put them up. So I go out, this is 11pm mind you, and THEY WERE STILL IN THE POOL. I found out later that he thought they looked so content that he left them there, didn't have the heart to lock them in the house. Sweet, but not very practical if you want to KEEP your ducks, right? :)

I had to get all of the little buggers out and into the house so I could close them up. Took me 20 minutes, darn ducks, they aren't called runners for nothin!!!!

I am going to break up my broody hen, she is just horrible, she needs to go to the stew pot....soon. She's not a very good broody, she either leaves the nest for too long, or eats the eggs, or lets someone else break up the eggs. I know they were fertile too. I have to put an end to it. I removed all the remaining eggs today in the hopes that she will stop sitting. If she doesn't then I'll just eat her. :barnie

Friday----I'm taking the plunge. My daughter is not going to have any more diapers after today. I am going shopping and stocking up for the week so i don't have to leave the house. I am done.

I will get her to use the potty if it kills me. She is 2 1/2 and knows how to do it she just doesn't want to. So I am giving her a little push. Pray for me and my carpet!!!

Good luck with your daughter! Those early days can be soooo trying!

You are a good friend, I hope that you friend is getting the help that she needs....unless of course what she needs is just more time to relax, in that case looks like you are the prescription!

Oh, I almost forgot!!! I got my first quail egg this morning, cutest little thing I ever saw. I have no idea what to do with it but it sure is cute. I am seriously rethinking the quail. I may talk to AussieSharon, she has gotten her hands on some Jumbo Cotournix and they might be a little better as far as eating goes. I don't have an incubator so I can't hatch any of my eggs yet but maybe we can rig something up....been studying the homemade incubators on byc....chad seems up for it!!!

Potty training day 1

Saturday

I hate potty training. My son was easy, a breeze.

My daughter threw a fit this morning when she was told that she had to wear panties and then proceeded to tear around her room looking for a diaper.

I am in trouble.

We are on our 3rd set of panties and it is 11:18am. She refuses to even go IN the bathroom, let alone SIT ON the potty.

I am in trouble.

I wonder if I was this stubborn when I was little????????

Can you give her a choice? Let her chose panties (popular theme here lately ) or diapers....but if she chooses diapers she has to put them on and change them herself?(well you would have to help with the icky ones) Might make her prefer the panties :thumbsup

Nope, I told her for the last week that when they were gone they were gone. No more. She wants to get her "big girl bed" and get out of her crib so this is why. I told her that when she goes in the potty like a big girl she can call grandma and tell her to bring her big girl bed (in storage in her garage). We even told her that we would redo her room....we did that with my son so we are being fair. Tyler is really trying to help, he is very encouraging and is showing her "how" to use the potty every day. He has even caught on the last week and everytime I had to change a diaper he said "Remember Maddie, when the diapers are gone you have to go in the big girl potty."

I've resorted to bribing her with chocolate chips. :th

Still hasn't worked.....but it is only day one......

Well do you have any new bedding or anything to make the big girl bed more real? That is a big concept if she can't sit on the potty and then go flop on her new big girl bed, you know?

We also used to have a little grab bag of goodies...like McDonalds toys, bday party favors whatever...and after the stubborn child would go they got to pick a treat.

What ever happens you will get thru it!!!!

We had an easy time with dd. Every time someone went into the bathroom, so did dd. Even if all she did was sit on the potty chair, she had to go into the bathroom too. It took about two or three weeks and she was potty trained by the time she was a year old.

Our ds, on the other hand! OH MY GOODNESS! We tried everything. We started with the same general principle as with dd. If someone was going to the bathroom, ds had to tag along.

Everytime ds had to sit on the potty chair he would cry - sit there and bawl up a storm. Then, the minute he was off the chair, the bladder would release the tidal wave all over the bathroom floor. :barnie Funny now, but not at the time! :D

We tried the bathroom doll - feed her a bottle of water and she wets her pants or sat on her own potty chair like a "big kid". He was not impressed. Talked to him about going from the "toddler" bed to the "big boy" bed - not impressed. Gold stars for every dry night and every dry day that would turn into a prize - not impressed. I was afraid we'd be sending him to college with diapers! :hit

Then one day, we were at KMart. UnderRoos were just introduced. We took ds to the aisle to show him the HeMan and Superman and Sports-themed UnderRoos. The designs were of football and baseball players, and once he saw them, ds decided he just had to have those "Little Rookies" big boy panties.

It didn't take long after that to get him potty trained. But it was a long journey. Personally, I think I try something else to bribe her with besides chocolate and food.

Good luck, Lori! :fl

Thank you everyone!

Yesterday we went through all of her big girl underwear and today she is having to wear her brother's old "tightie whities" but she doesn't seem to mind. This morning she started to go in her pants and ran to the potty and peed :weee She has gone through 2 pairs of underwear this morning but she is trying. I think I am just going to have to be housebound for a week (which is killing Chad today cause he does not do well staying at home) and be patient.

We practically threw a party when she peed this morning!!! My granny got her a princess potty that plays music as soon as the "stuff" hits it so we heard the music playing and came running!!!

We'll get there.....thanks for the support!
