Lori that fridge time might be a blessing in disguise. Aging the meat a day or so should help it be more tender. Of course that is not a problem with burger.

Do you have an electric meat grinder? If so what kind is it and how do you like the way it works. I have been considering buying one.

I got the Elite stainless steel grinder from Tractor Supply Co. I got it in the store and I was very impressed with it. Since it was the first time we used it we were a little careful with it and did the meat in two batches with some down time for the grinder in between while we packaged and vacuum sealed all the meat. It came with the sausage stuffer and the fine and large grinder plates. There is a medium plate that was not included. It has a one year limited warranty as long as you save the original receipt. Very easy to use. On, off, and reverse. Very simple.

Only problem with it was that the tray has no locking pin on it and my hubby pulled it off a couple of times during the process but I didn't have any problems when it was my turn. My mom has a big industrial mixer with the grinder attachment and we have used that as well but it is way expensive and ridiculously loud.....like, don't forget your earplugs loud.

Good grief today has been crazy. 5 loads of laundry and then granny and papa got here with Maddie. Fighting ensued between the children. AHHHHHHHH

Got a loaf of bread done and 4 of 5 loads dried in the dryer, rain-blech, and had to leave to get Tyler to the dentist and pick Chad up at the rental car place. I go to leave and granny and papa have left with Maddie's carseat :he I frantically texted them and tried calling them to get them to come back. They rushed back and we made it on time.

Then had to rush back home cause maddie had an accident at the dentist office and needed new clothes.

Cooked some of our newly slaughtered chickens for dinner and now I am desperately trying to relax but the kids are bickering like crazy to make up for the week apart.

Deer is done. We took care of that saturday. I have my eye on a couple of nice does on our family's property. Here we get 2 antlered tags and 3 antlerless tags so I'm done with the bucks but I got no problems turning a nice fat doe into some wonderful jerky!!! ;)

I thought I was doing good by getting 1 anterless and 1 either sex for gun and the same for bow season. Need to get tags for my wife next year so we can double the harvest.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I have not yet begun to prepare. :barnie

I want to go hunting Thursday night cause there is a cold front pushing through here Thursday and that usually means the deer will be moving. I got jerky to make! Thanks, MP!

I have to make the bourbon pecan pie and I am going to do a deer tenderloin in the pressure cooker and maybe see if I can find a turkey breast today at the grocery store. UGH.

My MIL will be here sometime today but I don't know when and I also have the last 12 broilers to process either tonight or Thursday night. I put them on grass only this morning.

We got the deer to the taxidermist last night and he worked out a deal with Chad for some free advertising on our website in exchange for a discount on the deer. Good deal!

He says it should be ready for us about April.

I still need to clean the house a bit but I want to get to the store before the after work last minute people hit. I had to do a few emails this morning so I figured I would catch up on here a bit before I hit the store.

Well, daylight's burning.....gotta go. If I don't get to get on tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Hope everyone has a good turkey day! :hugs
