Your welcome..... Tell Chad I love him too.... :p

Yes, go get that doe thursday and make that sausage, hmmmmmm..... its SO GOODDDDD... :drool

Yuns have small deer, as well as a lot of them, when I lived down in tidewater I remember the deer to be small. Due to lack of hunting, there always seemed to be a lot around.

Here around my property, nobody hunts does, trophy buck hunters, but I will fill all my tags this year. My son should too if he remembers what I taught him.

Well, I'm still in my pj's!!!

I'm going hunting later so I'm not showering until we get ready to go....gotta wash with my scent blocker stuff so I smell like leaves and dirt.

I made the bourbon pecan pie and cut up some raw veggies for snacking last night. Due to the lack of room in the fridge the chickens will have to wait until after we eat. We may do them tomorrow morning, it will be so cold here that we can let the meat rest in a cooler outside and it will be fine. Supposed to be in the 30s here.

Chad's mom is cooking up a storm, I made a corn pudding this morning and have cooked the tenderloin in the pressure cooker already so my part is done. I have let her take over and I am in the living room out of her way. Chad wanted her to cook, he hasn't had thanksgiving with her in almost 10 years and I have never done thanksgiving with her so I'm happy. My family is crazy. Way too much food and too many people. I'm happy to have a toned down, relaxed holiday for a change.

She has spent the last couple of thanksgivings at cracker barrel by herself so it is nice for her to be with family for a change. She got in last night late. She's nervous about the deer but I did it with montreal steak seasoning, butter and onions and she commented on how good it smelled!

My family is irritated that we aren't there but they'll get over it. Well, food's ready, gonna go get fat and happy before I go take a nap in the tree stand!!!

How did your hunt go? Not really sure how that works when you are napping, but then again I am not a hunter

Did your MIL enjoy the deer?

Yes, my MIL ate some of the deer and said it tasted like pot roast :D

She's outside helping butcher the last dozen chickens......reluctantly. I just gave Maggie a bath and brought her back in the house. She's an inside dog again and she's holed up in our bedroom clean, warm, and happy again.

I got a small doe last night and we cut everything up for jerky. It is marinating in the fridge now. Should be cold enough that i can leave the chicken outside in the cooler and it will be fine. It was spitting ice earlier. Crazy!!! Chad's little brother actually cut the heads off 4 of the broilers. He's in his early 20s but still "little" brother. He thought it was cool. He actually got inside the tractor to help me catch the last few.

Chad has 5 clients tomorrow and he is leaving in about an hour to go to Orange County, Va. I made him 2 batches of blueberry muffins and 6 mini loaves of banana nut bread. We also have a new website address for anyone that is interested. www.webfootmafiawaterfowl.com

We had a quiet thanksgiving and MIL is worn out from watching the kids while we went hunting. Oh, my dad got a nice 7 pointer yesterday morning too!!!

I got some deer as well! My friend with the hunting husband brought me by a couple of grocery sacks full of last years (and older) venison. Her hubby got two deers this year and so they cleaned out the freezer and I got the cleanings!

Some of the venison was pretty old and freezer burnt, but it should cook up with some rice and make great dog food. The majority of what she gave me was from last years hunt and believe me it won't be in my freezer for very long. Hubby and I both LOVE venison. :drool

Long day....put up all the chicken this morning and went hunting this evening but didn't get anything...I let a small doe walk.

This morning was awful. One of my labs is neutered (Charlie) and one is not (Tonka) and our female (Maggie) just went out of heat. Tonka is our stud and Charlie has always just been a pet. He and Tonka usually share a kennel outside and get let out for walks and play time and usually no problems. Well, after bringing Maggie back in the house and returning Charlie to the kennel Friday they evidently got into a fight and when I went down to feed them this morning I found both of them bloody and part of Tonka's ear missing. Charlie has puncture wounds all over but seems okay for now. Tonka is resting peacefully in the house after cleaning him up. We are thinking of either keeping Tonka in the house from now on or rehoming Charlie somewhere he will be the only male.

They have both been given antibiotics and we'll keep an eye out for infection but they seem okay. It's not the first time. This is like the third time this has happened. Geesh.
