You know, I have been thinking about your cat and I wondered if the vet mentioned prostatitis. Inflammation of the prostate is one of the causes of bleeding in human males, so I was just wondering.

I suppose its possible. I'll have to do some research and bring it up at the next appointment (all given I can afford the appointment lol we blew pretty much our entire budget this month on taking the cat in, and the puppies have their vet checks this afternoon).

We've been cleaning up the property a bit today. Moving wood from the front porch to between two trees down the end of the garden near where the chicken coop will eventually go. We don't have a woodstove, but we have a heck of a lot of off-cut pine, cedar, ect. hanging around from doing the horse fencing and working on various other projects. I've also been working on getting the buck fence up for the goats (haha, buck fence..that is a little funny).

I decided to take a look on kijiji to see what there was on the kingston livestock section and found this little guy...

I'm hoping he's still available and they'll take a little less for him, but hopefully we'll have a buckling for our ladies.

Baldy hen is passing away as I type this. Mum just discovered her on the porch sitting funny and prodded her to see what was happening. She's been in terrible condition for months now, almost a year, and never moulted. I've suspected something like cancer because of her loss of condition, or maybe internal laying. When mum prodded her she just flopped over on her side and appeared dead or dying. I went out to check on her and she is passing away right now. She's barely breathing, and her eyes are closed. I know today is the day, she's been doing downhill for months now and we never did find out what was wrong. I took out a towel and covered her so she at least wasn't scared. I can't move her because of the puppies, but I've segregated her on the porch and I think she chose the porch because it was quiet and to get away from the other hens.

Poor thing, I don't think it would be fair at this point to try and nurse her back to health because there has always been something off with her. She would have been 2 years old this July.

Baldyhen passed away at 1:45pm on March 24th 2010 after having 2 seizures on the front walkway (with the ducks quacking loudly and looking horrified at her). Rest In Peace Baldyhen. We just buried her and mum said a few words.

We didn't do an autopsy but all signs are pointing to a brain tumour of some sort. I've had experience personally with someone who has a brain tumour and now that I put it all together it all fits.

I know you were planning to get rid of her anyway but I'm sorry. You never want an animal to suffer. :hugs

The little pygmy is cute. I hope he is available for you.

Yeah I was actually hoping she would recover and was planning on bringing her in in the next couple weeks to start her on a diet and hopefully nurse her back to health, but she just passed away so quickly.

We're going to take the puppies in for shots this afternoon and there is another lady I've spoken to about seeing her boer/nubian and boer/sanaan kids. She'll have more does kidding in April so we're hoping to get a doeling from her in April. Unfortunately I'll have to fork over the cash and have her tested for CAE after I buy her because its just too expensive for people to test out here, but you can really get a good idea of how the animals are kept and the potential for problems when you go to farms here. The lady is very open about us going over to see her animals, gave me her address, and everything. I have an idea of which house she is, and I've been in love with their goat barn forever LOL.

Sorry about Baldyhen.
Sounds like Accio is happy to be back home, after the vet trip. BTW - that little buck is pretty.
