Well, I haven't posted here in a while, but I thought I would catch up with what I'm doing.

Every Monday-Saturday I am up to 20 minutes a day. I started at 5 and worked my way to 15 minutes, which is when I started slacking. I started over on Aug 17 doing 10 minutes.

Each Monday I add 5 minutes to my workout. I work 1 major muscle group for half that time, the other half is spent doing a full body cardio, like jumping jacks, jumping rope, trampoline, swimming or floor bicycles.

Mondays are arms, triceps & biceps, Tuesday is Hamstrings, Quads & buttocks, Wed is abs & center back, Thur is shoulders, chest & upper back, Friday is wrists, forearms, ankles & calves, Saturday is abs & back again, cause I need a little extra work there.
And on Sunday, I take a break from the entire thing and use the alloted time to meditate & do focus work.

This of course is on top of hauling food & shavings to the chickens, playing with my kids, checking on the erosion at the back of the lot & hauling railroad ties :p
Noobie, you got it goin' on!!! :th

It really doesn't feel like it, because I started with so little time and increase it gradually. I'm feeling the effects though, I'm starting to get that little "cut" in my triceps & quads again!!
And a little side note, you ever have one of those days where your clothes made you really pleased? I put on a pair of dress pants I had to squeeze into this spring for my companies show (I wear a uniform to our biannual show). Anyways, they're too big!!! LOVE IT!

Nooobie!! That is soooo awesome!!! You should be really proud of yourself!!

:weee

I started very gradual too, and just a few short months later I too feel a huge difference! IMHO there is not one thing wrong with starting small when it comes to working out. If I had pushed myself hard in the beginning I would not have gotten this far. A year ago if you asked me to climb a small mountian on a 9 mile hike, I would have laughed.

Blue Skys,

How fun! :ya I've never kayaked before but it is on my list of fun things to do in my life. They rent them up here on the Sound, but I am afraid of the severe tides we get.

So, where did you kayak in TX?

(Do you own your own? If so how much are they?)
Well, my husband is an impulse shopper. He bought us both kayaks, they weren't as expensive as I thought they would be, mine was around $150, his alittle more). But, now that we've used them and have done research we want different styles, that are more stable and sutable to "sport" and fishing as opposed to leasure (one I've been looking at might run $200), but that will come later. Sunday we went to Possum Kingdom lake, but really we can go anywhere, this weekend we plan to go more south on the brazos, there are a couple of small lakes right by our house that we frequent. But Sunday's adventure was the biggest one yet.

Edited to add, one of his goals, is to go down to the gulf and fish. You should see what some crazy folks will do in a kayak, catching blue marlin... On a kayak... I think I'll just bring my book and read - let him be a maniac.

That is the secret for sure! You are definately doing awesome! 9 mile hikes? Up a mountain? That just makes me go *GULP* Slow and steady DOES win the race, though :D

Great job FD! You should totally make a video of that. Squat & reach & stand & walk, repeat until your garden cart is full or your produce is gone :)
Free, I understand scything is very Tai Chi-like, with smooth flowing motions only with some resistance added. Glad your goat is okay.

And to everybody! Ever seen Finding Nemo? Just keep moving, just keep moving, just keep moving, moving, moving! :D

I had to sing that this weekend when paddling against the wind for miles. Just keep paddling, just keep padling... It works for everything that might get you down! :thumbsup

Oh Noobie, it is 9 miles round trip, 4 1/2 up and 4 1/2 down. Thank God for the down part, it makes it easier to comprehend going up for 4 1/2 gradual miles. I will tell you, you use a different set of muscles on the way down, so it isn't a joke either, just easier because of momentum. (Saturday was my 4th time to do it...it is getting a little easier.)

Marlin chasing in a kayak?!! :th

Had another blah walk. Made it the whole 4 miles, but it took way longer. I'm just not feeling it today.

Earlier I did finish off my little pond however. My daughter and I gathered large rocks from the pasture and carried them into the coop to "outline" the liner. We really worked up a sweat. (We are preparing for our new Rouen ducks. :ya We are so excited!! I'm trying to come up with some French names.)

To pay her for her help we went on a nice impromptu ride in the forest bareback. The horses really enjoyed getting out and about. (Riding bareback is my version of a thigh master! :p )
