Ladies, skip the rice cakes! They are a simple carb that gets rapidly converted to sugar in your blood stream, which prompts your insulin to kick in and clear out all that sugar, resulting in.....needing more sugar!

Eat a plum or an apple :)
:) I eat lots of fruit also but I have a rice cake at work for a quick snack as I am in Dr office and it has to be at my desk...I only eat one every now and then-and it works for me..better then the Snickers bars my co workers are eating lol!
I keep dried fruit in my purse also.

I used to weigh 235lbs and my Dr I work for talked with me about my health and the fact the nurse should be healthy and be an encouragemen for others...man, my feelings were hurt but at least he was honest with me!I got the South Beach Diet Book and followed it. It was expensive (the food it suggested)so I modified the meals to my budget ;) And I went to 120lbs in less then a year..getting myself moving was the main thing...walking and being physical. But now I got lazy and went to 150 lbs. So I am getting on the bandwagon with Quail --back to chicken, fish lots of veggies, etc.

We are having pork chops, mashed potatoes, greenbeans, and salad for dinner tonight.

Usually I will eat two pork chops. Tonight I'm going to limit myself to 1 pork chop. I'm also going to cut my mashed potatoes portion in half of what I would normally eat, but make my salad larger than I usually do.

Water to drink.

Banana for dessert.

Yellow squash sounds good! I have some fresh from my garden!! :D

Hmm...is squash a carb? If I eat it and have a small serving of mashed potatoes, am I eating two carbs at the same meal?

Fruit for my sweet tooth...Ok I need to go shopping and get more fruit in my house :/
To kill a sweet tooth, eat a dill pickle. Seriously, it worked for me.

That I can do! I've a jar of them in the fridge.

I've decided to make a baked potato dish instead of mashed potatoes. I diced up some potatoes and added a dash of salt and pepper, and finely chopped onion to the top.

I'm thinking I'll allow for a small dollop of sour cream on the top. :) Maybe a pinch of shredded cheddar?

Right now I'm drinking a 4 oz glass of orange juice, to help stave off the desire to snack on something!

I think that's my biggest issue, if I'm sitting, I want to snack!! Gotta kick that habit!

I have found that if I am craving a snack, I go ahead and do it, but just one bite and that is it. Usually snacks around here are few and far between unless it is in the form of raw fruit and veggies...can't even keep that stuff in the house, it is too tempting.
