My sheep Dolly and a NEW SHEEP!!!

BBH...you will do just fine! She looks to be in good weight...unlike mine...who are now FAT! I swear, I think Nelly might be preggers..and if she isnt...I need to cut back on her kibbles! Your Ewe looks fit and trim, like a good sheep should! Mine BAWL when I walk out the front door....untill I walk over there and give them a good scratchin. Spoiled I tell ya, just rotten! I think so far, the sheep are my favorite animal here on the farm.

She looks to have a good conformation, BBH. Very filled out and healthy looking with a bright eye and a good-looking head on her! Good buy! Will you breed her? She looks very inquisitive and calm for a new arrival, so she should make you a good ewe.

Thank you! :D Yes I would love to breed her, but I had to sign a "no more mouths to feed" contract. :( I'm still looking for a loophole... :P There is a chance that she might be preggos..if goats and sheep can breed? She and a pygmy goat buck came together, but I only bartered for her.

I've heard that they can breed but not sure about the results.

Here's a good retort to the no-more-mouths thingy.....the babies can be sold at market to pay for winter's feed bill. That's what I'm using my lambs for.....to regain my investment and pay for winter feeding. A market ready lamb can run anywhere from $125-$175 in my area. If I have twins or triplets, the ewe has made back my money the first year with a good profit left over for buying hay for the winter. I 'm making a deal with the breeder for stud services for my ewes this winter....this way I don't have to keep a nonproducing mouth for the winter, not to mention separate penning.

Try it! :D ;)

Very good idea! The going rate for a lamb to eat is about the same. I have to find a breeder round here and sneak a breeding in when everyone is gone. :lau Then I say, "Wow, she WAS preggos! :hu " Insisting she came that way!! And who could be mad at a cute little lamb!!

Sheep and goats can breed, but the female will usually abort before its born. If it is born they are likely sterile or hermaphrodites.. seems they usually die from complications.

Your chances are slim..

I vote you find someone with a ram, that 'got out' and 'caused an accident'. :D

Aw . . . she's looking good! I hope you got her into alignment though . . . she looked a little heavy on one side there after her first shearing. ;)

Interesting about breeding goats with sheep.

Glad to see the pics. She does look like a nice ewe. Can you cut a sheep's wool with the same type of clippers you use on people? Or do they make special electric sheers?

Ha ha ha! :lau I do feel bad because I couldn't get to her today and I think she is going to tip over!

I have a really good pair of horse clippers, but they are still in a box somewhere, I am going digging tonite. :fl Because I am going to use them for more bartering!!! :P It is good to know that she can be done without electricity...since I am striving to be ss and all.
