Ask anything, I don't know a ton but I know a lot of people smarter than me. I have never heard of a no more mouths to feed. Sheep generally are feed to someone's mouth. I understand that with horses, dogs, cats, etc. I am sure there is a reason but I have only heard of that at our Animal Shelter.

I'm glad I can successfully upload photos now! Here is another friend of Dolly's. This is Shadow, he thinks he is Fabio! He poses for all his shots like this. (He loves the ladies!)

That big brown horse Jojo is like having a 4x4 jeep. I can ride him through anything and he is built like a tank. The other day my neighbor who is planning on building a fence told me he needed to get his jeep down the wooded hill and across the over flooded pond to mark the property line. He said he would have to wait until the land was cleared more so he could drive his jeep down and through the deeper water. No he didn't, I just used Jojo. He crashed through the forest and the water which went up to his upper chest and made it to the property marker. I put a piece of twine on the marker for my neighbor and strung it back to dry land.

How ss is that?

To shear you will either need hand shears or electric. Electric are expensive. Hand shears take a lot of time but for one sheep are pretty cheap (under 40 dollars). Premier products out of Iowa is a good place to start. Once you get the fleece off, pick out the stomach wool and from around tail area. you can hand wash in a tub of hot water and dish soap. I like Dawn for this. If you have a place outside to spread it out to dry that is good. Or you can spin in the grease. Not always the best for your wheel but wonderful for your hands. Sorry so long
Theres these really cool ones we saw at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto last year ...I couldn't tell you the make right now... they're basic clippers, cordless or corded (they have an attachment to make them corded) and you can GET a sheep shearing blade for them, they're used/sold to 4H programs and such..only like $300 for a pair..AND they come in fun colours LOL

I finally got her today. My daughter named her Dorothy. She is a Katahdin. She was used to train border collies and is now about 5 years old. Her owner is getting out of the sheep side of border collies and wanted her to go to a good home. She even has papers. I just paid for the gas to get her here. Now Dolly won't be so obsessed with the horses!
