I'd love to have the little doeling if you lived closer, yours and Javamamas as well. Did you see her mini mancha for sale?

Did you try an ad over there at BYH? I bought some rabbits from someone that was close enough. I think us SS-ers are mostly more spread out.

I should post it on BYH. Woke up with a killer migraine and have a doc appt in a couple of hours about a bum leg. Hope to resemble a human again tomorrow so I'll post there. My CL ad isn't getting much attention. Plus I need to take some better pix.

Thanks!

Will post goat babies on BYH. Too wet to take better pix today so will try tomorrow.

Hubby's company was bought out in April. He JUST yesterday got his letter asking for him to stay on, but that the offer and the salary could change any time before next April. Thinking we need to find some way to make this little 2 acre farmette self-sufficient by next April.

Gotta think of our future.

Bu ... if I can't even sell 2 little baby goats and a mess of chicks, I have a problem.

I gotta work on my kid's school work assignments for the next few days, but come Mon or Tue, I GOTTA sit and write down the things I can do, and if any of them can help pay the mortgage and a few other things, like getting a perimeter fence, some good top soil, some fruit and nut trees, and better winter-ready goat pens and chicken coops. Oh, and gotta work on getting rid of purchasing anything from the store. My chemical allergy is getting worse; I had to get another shot yesterday.

I haven't been able to sell ducks. Of course most are looking like they are drakes, so I am just going to raise them as meat birds and fill my freezer. Sure it takes space I don't really have, but good home raised meat is very SS so I will work something out.

I'll buy one after it's processed. I've never eaten duck.

Guess that doesn't really help me tho! Unless you'd trade some goat milk for it! (Pasteurized, of course, Big Brother!)

I was actually thinking if you couldn't sell the goats maybe you could raise them for meaties.

As for swapping, can I get it raw for pet food use? You know my old kitty cookie has such a delicate stomach :)

Meaties!? GASP! Heck no ... not my cute little mini goats. ARGH! **running away screaming**

Raw... sure ... for pets only. Wouldn't guarantee safety because my pen is not exactly the cleanest there ever was.

Short but long weekend. Got some things done but not nearly enough. Went to doc on Thursday and was diagnosed with a baker's cyst in one leg. By tonight, that leg wasn't able to support me. My son wanted me to hobble to a far room to type in the password for his computer but I had to let him down. Can't tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

He starts school tomorrow and I haven't finished working on his assignments. Maybe I'll delay it another week.

Hubby and I planted some more sunflowers and melons this weekend. Also let the goats out to do some "mowing" (all 3 came back with huge bulges on their sides). Have gotten a total of 6 bantam blue eggs ... they are SO adorable.

And we did some thinking about our future. Some more, actually. Heard about how one guy makes his entire year's income during his state fair. Yeah, it's food, and I don't have those kinds of skills or equipment, but I'm wondering if there's anyone here that does make a decent living without going to an "outside" job? It's been my dream for years and years, and for some reason, it's just stuck in my head.

Gonna take some more ibuprofen, give my kid his seizure meds and we're both gonna hit the hay. So tired. So much pain.

I wish you luck in selling. Around here the market is just about saturated. It seems like everyone around has the same idea. Is there a flea market that you can bring the goaties to? Maybe you can earn a little doing that. Around here is a huge market that people sell livestock of every form at every week. Some do pretty good at it.
