First thing I thought about was my husband's father had passed but I subtly had Hubby check on FIL and he's alive but did finally admit he was lonely. Looking into moving him to a nursing home as soon as a spot opens up. Soon, I hope, so he won't die by himself.

Hubby thinks it was his grandfather, looking for FIL in prep for passing.

Good to know there are other likeminded people here. Have been visited before but never so vividly.

If I get the operation in February, I won't be able to care for the animals out at the farm probably for at least a week to 10 days since I probably wouldn't be able to drive. But, I know that everyone else would chip in caring for them. That would just leave the rabbits. And, I'm sure I can get either my hubby or daughter to care for them if I can't get outside. But, I've been on crutches a few times, so as long as there's no snow and/or ice, I should be able to care for them.

My kid's service puppy came home last night. This lab just kinda glanced at the chickens then ignored them. WONDERFUL!!! But he kept my son awake all night with whining and whimpering. Actually, all of us were awake. NOT good.

Hope to resolve that separation issue soon.

Just stick to your guns on the whining at night. It usually only lasts about two or three days.

Glad to hear that he has arrived! :)

Puppy still whining at night but it's getting better. I guess since I'm doing all the work right now, he's bonding with me. Trainer said she'll correct that later.

In other news ... :)

Hubby being a jerk again. I wonder if it's the heat or concern about his dad or ???

It is just way too hot to do anything. We managed to move two chicken coops from the muck and mud and are now on higher ground BUT they are on a slope so I'm not sure how they'll do with a lot of snow this winter. Gonna have to rethink this. Meanwhile, not getting diddly squat done.

BUT when I was watering the garden and chickens and goats yesterday, noticed two of our blueberry plants had ripe blueberries on them! Yum! Picked just enough for my Kid and I to share for a dinner-snack. Sweet and a bit tart. Still, nothing is better than something you grow yourself.

With the 10 days of constant rain and now 2-3 days of hot hot hot hot hot days, my garden is finally growing. Too late (probably) to harvest corn, winter squash or melosn this year but might get tomatoes (one is turning red), summer squash, beans, bush cucumbers and now blueberries. HOPE HOPE HOPE.

More bantams are laying ... get 4 mini eggs (3 blue, 1 green) a day. One of our February-hatched chicks laid her first egg yesterday. It was blue! Woohoo!

Once my standard-sized girls all start laying, we'll sell all of them, and keep the bantam eggs for ourselves. Hope it will start paying for their feed again.

Yeh. They're exhausting. I don't think I could live with Max and his meltdowns.

Mine are plenty enough for me.

I recognize it now. I have turned disassociation into an art form.

I can step back and watch myself have a meltdown, recognize the source (usually) and logically analyze the situation. I just cannot step back in and STOP the meltdown all the time. Sometimes I can shift the meltdown into the standing outside while my brain holds the logic. So I can have a total meltdown while behaving more or less normally, just twitchy.
