Ours will run for 8-10 hours. It won't power everything but right now we have the boiler and blower going for heat, the house fridge and the freezer the pig is hanging in (chest freezer will stay frozen overnight unplugged if it has to), DD's fan and night light, and most of the other lights in the house. If I don't need to cook or take a shower, you almost couldn't tell we don't have power! Lol

My generator can't handle the hot water heater, so I'll be going to my mom's in the morning to take a shower because their generator is bigger than ours! She got back from a 2 week or so trip to Florida tonight. To no power. She's gonna be grumpy!

Have you considered a gas stove and water heater? And maybe a gas space heater? I have lived in areas before where power outages were common, so I did everything gas that I could.

Y'all must have had one heck of a storm to knock out that much electricity! Sounds like one of our hurricanes! I hope your power comes back on soon!

We are blessed with a great electric company. It is a Co-op and they sure stay on top of things. We have had a few power blips, but not even as long as a couple of hours. And we're ALL electric, which I don't like, but it is what it is.

During Hurricane Ike my neighbor had a generator that wouldn't keep running - but it had a big tank. He brought it over and rigged it up so that mine would pull gas from his big tank so I didn't have to fill it up every hour. That was a lifesaver!

Poor mom! I can only imagine coming home tired from traveling and having no power. :hit

Maybe it'll miraculously come back on in the middle of the night!

It doesn't sound like they're working through the night. We have a co-op too, but they are not awesome at getting things done. I will give them one thing though, they have some of the hardest conditions in the state to trek through where those lines run. It is thick woods, steep inclines, serious off the beaten path work.

We hope to not be here forever, so I'm hesitant to convert much over. We lose power fairly frequently but rarely more than maybe 12 hours at a time (usually under 4 hours). This has happened rarely, thank goodness!

That sucks! Especially when it's cold and wet and totally yucky out. Hope they get it done despite the challenges.
