Thank goodness you guys have that generator! It sounds like your state got caught unawares by this storm, not least the power company… I hope they are going to make an effort to get everything restored asap for you all.

Glad to hear the critters are all o.k. :)

They have outside crews on the way. From the midwest. That's a day's drive, before they even do anything. The road we take to get anywhere is closed down due to flooding and they're evacuating low lying areas of town. I'm trying to be relieved we're safe but it's hard not to be irritated. We have a big day trip planned Wednesday for DD's birthday and I do NOT want to postpone it (again, we had to once already). We can't leave if we don't have power though.

I'd be a bit irritated myself… :hugs I was seriously annoyed with ESB here when half the country lost power with the storms we had. Seriously, Ireland gets big storms nearly every year and every time that happens, power lines and trees go. You'd think by now they would've learned and be prepared for it? I'm sure it would cost less to trim and cut trees threatening the power lines than endless repairs after big storms. And it's not like this country can't sacrifice a few trees, we have loads of them. Our power got restored after 24 hours and we were LUCKY! Many places had to wait much longer.

We have crews come around every summer, before hurricane season gets started, and they trim the trees. Some folks get a little pissy because the contractors for the power company aren't exactly interested in making the trees aesthetically pleasing - they just trim 'em. I don't care what the trees look like as long as they don't knock down my power lines!

Lol true. They have only managed to get 5,000 people power today thus far. And we are not them! The sun is out now, but it's still windy.

About to go do animal chores, move the meat birds to dry ground again... Gotta dump out the goat's mineral feeder because that's full of water! Fortunately they were running low on minerals so it didn't ruin much. Then DH will get the stove hooked up so I can cook dinner. And we might process a front shoulder or two tonight and get some meat in the freezer. DH is falling asleep right now so his motivation might be an issue (story of the mother's life- he slept 5 hours, I slept about 3.5 and he is the one sleeping!)

Waiting to see if schools are closed again tomorrow, if so they'll probably cancel DD's class.

Oh down to 35,000 outages. They must have gotten some substations up.

:hugs I'm so glad you have the generator! Multi-day outages in winter scare me. We have wood furnace but can't run it without electricity! How is DD holding up with the adventure?

You're going to take a nap now, right? :hugs
