Yes if it is not posted, you can hunt there. Respect dictates you ask permission of the land owner, but that doesn't always happen. If, however, you tell someone to leave they have to leave. I mean it doesn't give people free access to trespass if you make a reasonable effort to tell people to stay off your property.

That's crazy… I would NOT be happy with armed strangers coming onto my property to hunt. NO WAY.

Well it's not like they're allowed close to your house. We have huge chunks of privately owned property all over the state. If people don't want hunters on theirs, they literally just have to go put up a few signs. In order to have your land in current use (where you can't post it), you have to have 10 acres or more so it's not like they're in your backyard. Plus, you can always tell them to go away. And having your land in current use is a choice you make as a land owner. You can always pay more taxes. Like we need to pay more taxes, lol.

Cold here today, high of 25 with wind gusts. Now they say 7 degrees tonight, wind chill of -8. Oh joy.

I'd be too worried about incompetent shooters and my son and livestock running around. But then I may as well admit that I am not a fan of firearms, never fired a gun of any description and don't plan to either. (I was raised to be scared of them and stay away from them) I can use a cross bow though! ;)

Taxes are ridiculous. It wouldn't be so painful if the governments put all the money to good use, but alas.

We're warm by comparison. Had some frost about 2 nights ago and it's wet as usual, but not too bad out. I'm guessing 60's? For me that is cold, but I would die if I had to live in some of the places you guys are!

If you have livestock you can put up safety zone signs so no one can hunt within a certain proximity of them anyway (can't remember how close). Hunters in NH tend to be safe conscientious sorts. Hunting, and firearms in general, are a way of life here.

Ireland does have lovely weather it seems.

The ski areas here are starting to open now. Crazy!

From what I heard hunting and especially fire arms is popular in the States. In S.A. I remember my dad going hunting with a friend once, when I was VERY young. They got some bucks, which the friend butchered for sharing with my family. S.A. is a popular place mainly for trophy hunters :\

We have a joke floating around here "I like summer, the rain is warmer!" Enough said! Temperature wise it's awesome here though, no extremes. A little snow and not always guaranteed. Apart from some bad storms most years fall/winter we have it pretty good here…

Already??

We won't ever move out of this country, we do like our guns and our hunting. But we are not trophy hunters in the slightest. Hunters keep populations of animals in check. If we weren't hunting white tailed deer, they would overpopulate and die of starvation. Our fish and game department in NH do an excellent job managing wildlife populations. Plus they're delicious. There's that too.

Ski areas ar high elevations are opening small numbers of trails, snowmaking on the big mountains has begun!

I like winter and I like snow. I just wish it was shorter and less of it, lol. We have snow about 5 months of the year, it gets a bit annoying!

I think hunting for meat is wonderful. Compared to the factory farming practices to put meat on the table, I'm with hunters all the way and I used to buy venison whenever I could, though I never hunted for it myself. It amuses me when people start screaming and shouting about hunting, but go buy meat at the supermarket without thought… Trophy hunting for fun bothers me a bit though.

Wow, summer's gone and done, it's official! It seemed to have gone very quickly this year. I love winter, always did, but we never had snow in S.A. so I think it's awesome. That may change in a few years though lol But then we might have a week of the white stuff and then only a little bit. "Heavy" snow here is 3-4 inches!

Ugh! I failed again! Must go get my sugar testing kit Monday and learn how to be a diabetic. Sigh.
