DH and I were like celebrating watching her, lol. That's normal.... For us anyway!

Clara is walking much better. She hasn't done the stairs yet, DH has been carrying her out. He's not home so in a few minutes we will see if she can do it, since it's almost chore time!

DH has been helping a friend put up a run in for his horse pretty much all day. Kind of annoying, but he's going to make sure said friend shows up to help with the barn! Which... Needs to happen soon! As soon as the meat birds are done (this week or weekend), it's next on the list.

It's not such a bad thing when the friends show up to help! It's actually kinda ok to have a work day with a couple friends and maybe a beer and some cooked pig!

So... Apparently the new girls didn't like quarantine. They climbed the fence and got in with the gang. I am letting them stay. My old girls are afraid of them. Clifford is being annoying but the new girls are tougher than him. Apparently I need better fencing for these ones! I knew my luck with cruddy fencing working would run out sometime!

DH reminded me they are MY goats and I picked these ones out, lol! Yeah thanks... Need more cattle panels, they're sturdier!

So DH said he does not want to breed the pig regardless so if she doesn't sell I better look for a second freezer, lol. He seems to be sold on the guinea hogs. Part of which is we won't keep a full size boar but keeping an AGH boar is no big deal (riiight, FEM might not agree today!) so... No farrowing for pregnant lady or people with newborn sleep deprivation! Woot! Also, that means we don't have to build a farrowing stall in the barn so yay, less work! If she sells we'll get the AGH gilts, they're not old enough to breed so just keeping them over the winter, we have a perfect outbuilding for.

I love my boar! (except when he won't stay where I want him to, lol) He is totally gentle...I can walk right up to him anywhere and rub and pet him. I've even pulled his lips back and shown people his tusks. Crazy maybe...I wouldn't ever try that with any other pig.

Yesterday when I was moving the younger boar-lets one of them decided to taste my shoe. First time he's ever even gotten that close to me and I was scratching his back...he was smelling my shoe and ever so gently decided to taste it. I just stood there to see how far he would go. He didn't even close his mouth, nor did I even feel teeth. I gave him a loud "aaaahhhhnnnnt" and he turned and walked away.

I really hope they are that gentle in your area! I'd hate to recommend them and you get the only mean AGH in the country!

No farrowing for pregnant lady or people with newborn sleep deprivation!
I know that's gotta be a relief!

Lol nah I've never heard of them being anything but friendly. There's a huge AGH farm near us, we would like to get in touch with them. Yours do sound lovely!

I was ok with farrowing, but it was more DH's thing. I've been pushing to get out of full size pigs for a bit now, but he wasn't ready. Not having piglets this year means we might need a feeder hog (won't have any in time for fall butcher otherwise), but no big deal. It also is a lot less work and worry for us. I had bought 3 fancy heat lamps so now they're all for my goats! Lol!

Did I mention I found out the reason the lady I got my goats from is downsizing is that she's having a baby? It was like a pregnant goat lady party there the other day, lol! She's due in June and pushing her kidding to July. I'm due in January and starting kidding in March. Which one of us is crazier? (that would be her- she has like 25 does. I have 5)
