I'll bet the sheep will be juuuuuuust fine! They are pretty well equipped for all this coldness. Baby piggies - not so much. Dry - hay filled - they needa feel blessed, lol!

Yeah they're very fluffy right now lol. Shearing day is the 22nd, and I'm hoping it's warmish so I don't need to lock them inside that first night.

DH is unburying our outside hay feeder for the sheep, then he has to run some electric to keep Stanley in the hog panel pen, then we'll tackle the sheep (I think it's just one) and trim her up. Maybe hit up TSC for iron, maybe not.

So far, moving the hay feeder turned into moving the little building for it (so it's under cover), making a new hay feeder, the sheep running away from said hay feeder because they're that smart... then I told DH it was dumb he didn't own a chainsaw, because what good homesteader doesn't own a chainsaw... So then we went and bought iron for the piglets, and a chainsaw. Lol. So, back on track here... DD2 is napping then out to tackle sheep. Stanley is staying in so DH can deal with electric fencing tomorrow. He doesn't work Mondays at the moment . Although he's outside and I don't hear a chainsaw running so maybe he's already doing fencing... I'll find out shortly.

Me....:hide However, in my defense - we previously owned a chain saw - but it was stolen right out of the garage. Only vandalism we've ever really had here...

Sounds like ya'll are making good progress!

Well we caught the sheep. Mama is fine, clean and FEISTY! She was mad lol. Daughter had messy rear end, we cleaned her up best we could and she's dry underneath except her tail, which is kind of raw. DH trimmed her the best he could and now I'm trying to figure out if she needs to go to the vet or can I use something I have to help her heal up... I don't know what happened, she hasn't been scouring or anything. Ugh! DH has been feeding for me and I feel badly I haven't been more attentive but, bleh . Anyway... sheep. Ugh.

What if I washed her with hibiclens, dried her off and sprayed blue-kote? I'm so very happy to have had this learning experience during non flystrike season. And happy she's my friendlier sheep . She stood for us with minimal pressure while we did this, and let me pet her face the whole time. While her mother nearly broke her neck trying to break into the barn. Lol sheesh. I know who I would cull...

It's not really all that bad, I'm just neurotic. DH is supposed to cut down some trees this morning and we'll go tackle her again. She'll love that, lol.
