Reinbeau. That's interesting that you consider conservatives o be center. Conservatives are to the right. Liberals and progressives to the left and independents somewhere in between depending on which way they swing. I would agree that approx 40% of the uS is conservative with the majority in the south The south became a conservative stronghold when Johnson signed the civil liberties act in to law. He knew it when he did it but he knew it was the right thing to do so he did.

Olympia votes right of center. It may not be far right like conservatives are but she votes to the right. If she voted to the left her party wouldn't elect her over and over.

You noticed that Olympia was one of the only people sitting with the party of NO that was willing to compromise and try to work with the rest of the Congress. The Republicans have plenty of bad stuff to say about the health plan. Reason is because they didn't think of it and they have no ideas of their own. They know it is a popular issue as indicated that McCain is still a Senator vs a President. That is why they along with big pharma and the medical insurance industry fabricated and spread so many lies. They have plenty of mouthpieces like Beck who are willing to lie about anything. Of course they have Fox to help spread the lies too. Since most conservatives only watch Fox because it is the only true word it is an easy bamboozle routine.

I for one am looking forward to health care reform and the continued advancement of our country under Obamas leadership.

We were a lot closer to marshal law with Bush than we'll ever be with Obama.

Beck and Fox really got you brain washed.

Boy were people right to be suspicious. Associate Press just reported a news story about the proposed health care bills.
It was headlined about the House addressing illegal immigrants but in the body of it, after saying the house committee posponed working on that , it made reference to the planned expansion of Medicaide?!??
I'm I wrong to think that no one has mentioned this much if at all? All I heard was about health insurance with working people paying premiums. Nothing about expanding Medicaide which is a program that gives health care services to people mostly on welfare.
I think that most people are paranoid about Congress pushing their agenda and if this is right, they should have been.
I could support insuring that working people have access to reasonable cost health insurance, for which they share in the cost but not more freebies with my tax money. We need more people working to support those not working as it is. Not more reasons not to work.

I think that is true for the most part. However if we were to get hit with a catastrophic terrorist event such as a nuke I think marshal law could be invoked. In that case the military would be in control.

If Obama is as bad as some say he might have all the registered Republicans rounded up and put in camps for re programming. Oh he would take all the guns too. Sounds like a cool movie huh.

Just kidding guys.

Where did you get that idea? I never said that. I don't need a definition of Conservatives, I am a Conservative. RINOs are not Conservative.
Olympia votes right of center. It may not be far right like conservatives are but she votes to the right. If she voted to the left her party wouldn't elect her over and over.
So you are familiar with Maine politics? She's elected by the liberals in Portland. That's the concentration of liberalism in Maine. Ask people who don't live in Portland/So. Portland what they think of the politics there. The rest of the state wants to secede from the Portland area. Olympia Snow may vote to the right of most liberals, but she's absolutely no Conservative. I live part time up there, I'm married to a Mainer, I have lots of Maine connections. Please don't try to tell me what the politics are up in Maine.

As for your admiring the current administration's march towards socialism, I'm with Rush. I hope he fails. I want a government that will keep me safe, not one that wants to take care of me.

HEY ETR
hope you are doing good

one thing I know...many interesting ideas will go across the board on this bill.......they will throw around all types of scenarios.

So much unknown is in every bill. That is why it is good to have ALL parties to keep it even and fair and whatever.

So hang in there and lets just see where this all leads. That is all I can do at this point.

Planned expansion? Expansion of what? Just a few things, just some key points, an overhaul of the system, allow more people into medicaid? For me, when I hear something so vague like "expansion of medicaid"---I have to know what it is. I just can't assume anything of what these govt people might do???

I think in his speech Obama said none of this will kick in for like 4 years or something....and I don't think it will all be settled any time soon either....even though we wish we could see a real draft of the real thing.

Just wondering, will you come back and tell us you *don't* feel quite 100% the same way if a year, or four, passes and he does NOT institute martial law and all the other most-extreme things being predicted? ;)

People are constantly saying that the sky is about to fall... possibly one day it may, but thus far 100.00% of the predictions have been incorrect, yet the funny thing is that nobody seems to remember -- even the predictors themselves -- once the magic date has passed harmlessly.
