I just thought of this....:p When we had an overabundance of squirrels in our attic destroying the place...I read somewhere only to turn a radio on really loud up in there for a few days and they would leave. We did it always when we were gone cause I couldn't stand the noise  It worked for a little while, but they moved right back in the following spring :barnie
Maybe that is why your neighbors had the radio on

well so far nothing but quiet quiet and more quiet from the bad neighbors.. but i think the rain has kept them in. a car load of their looser friends showed up yesterday. we'll just see how that goes.

of course

the guineas were shrieking like mad at nite so we had to run up there and get the right fluffy butt in the right perch so they would shut the heck up. and they did.

nothing but rain rain and more rain but i got out there early before it started yesterday and got a few more seeds in the ground. after today we should be in the clear. its so soggy out there that its like chocolate pudding. no one is happy. and there is not one thing i can do outside. i can hardly even walk around!

so i'm starting some cheese (feta) and we'll see where that gets me.

our Miss Dash had a nest disaster... only 3 duck eggs remain. one of our young duck hens got herself into a pickle and got wedged between Dash's nest and who knows what for most of the day and they spent it fighting each other thru the mesh. Puddles was a mess, Dash was bleeding, and the eggs were killed. fortunately for me, The Big Man cleaned it out so i didnt have to see
:-(

the only thing about quack-less ducks is that you can't hear them if they are in a pickle. drat. both ladies are fine now. but Puddles thinks she should sit on every egg she sees. in the hen house. where all the laying hens are. laying all those eggs. tons of them. if she wasnt a duck i'd say she was being a silly goose....so i'll just say she's being a silly duck.

and the cute news of the day?? one of the gals we sold some ducklings to last year called to say they had a clutch hatching! she was thrilled and her little boy insisted she call me with the news.. how cute is that?

happy soggy saturday!
:)
ps justusnak.. great thought... we were also thinking of some motion detector lights on that side of the property. jerks. we're hoping that it will rain on the 4th of July. we're pretty sure they will have all the illegal fireworks their crappy truck can carry. hopefully they wont burn OUR house down. jerks.

:he I feel your pain with the bad neighbors. Our loser, won't work, neighbor slinked over to our yard yesterday being all friendly (knew right away something was up). Said she was bored. After beating around the bush for a few minutes she asked if she could borrow $10 until Saturday. Like I'm going to give her any money. I already help pay for her subsidized housing... So I smiled sweetly and told her I sure was sorry, but I don't keep any money in the house - I use my bank card for everything. I had to bite my tongue to keep from telling her to get a job or grow a garden to help feed her little girl and she wouldn't be bored anymore. :somad
The thing is, if she'd have told me she needed milk for her baby, I would have given her $20.

yep. i know some folks like that. they know not to ask for money anymore.. but they wont eat anything we grow/raise so.. well.. its kinda their hard luck. i gave up feeling bad for them one night when all of their kids were drinking soda (caffeinated) at 9pm at nite, all were texting on their fancy phones, and the mom was all about how they didnt have grocery money. um... perhaps better choices?

grrr....

oh well

the good neighbor and The Big Man are gonna set the corner post (a 12x12 railroad post).... between those guys they have close to 500lbs of bad attitude so i doubt if that bad neighbor is gonna give them any lip. jerks.

but my cheese is coming right along! (trying to focus on the good news but still totally hacked off....)

This is funny... until it isn't... Just please be super careful and keep the hoses handy:) We had our apartment burn to the ground January 1, 2000 due to Y2K celebrations and illegal fireworks :barnie

yeah i know... ugh - sorry about your apt. not to be a hater but what is good about the general public and explosives??
:-(

even my MIL (eyeroll) just thinks they are the best thing ever. one year she wanted to come down and do a whole big whoopdeedoo and we were all NO WAY and:
1. how old are you, 6? oh no - you are SIXTY please act like it
2. not with nervous dogs, a full hen house, and my two old lady cats

she was furious. golly maybe thats when things started going wrong between us.... no.. i think it was when she wanted to stay with The Big Man and i on our wedding nite.. yeah i think that was it.

anyway...

when i lived in city the stooopid neighbors next door were always firing fireworks off. it was hilarious until one landed on my deck. and i guess one year they really did burn the garage roof down before i bought that house!

but these jerks... dang... we usually dont go anywhere anyway (too much poultry, too many idiots...) but this year we REALLY arent going anywhere!

hoses standing by...

I am sorry to hear about your ducks. Such a shame. good luck on the fence today.

Din your MIL really want to stay with you on your wedding night? :barnie

I have a sister kinds like that neighbor mentioned above. I stopped giving her money a long time ago. The last time she called complaining I took her to Home Depot and bought mulch and seeds. She is still not any better but every year she plants a small garden.. I feel kinda better.

Sorry about all the rain, please feel free to send it my way!!

yep.

we got married at the old farm and told EVERYONE that we're so glad they could come but please make your own accommodations and dont stay with us... and she thought it meant everyone but HER

so we told her that if she wanted to stay with us thats fine.. just come the weekend AFTER the wedding and she could stay with us then.

;-)

:hit I'm so sorry!

Would telling you that Miss Dash Jr. is setting on a huge nest of eggs help you feel any better?

Both Dash Jr. and MY Puddles (who's a blue muscovy) laid in the same nest - but Dash Jr. is setting it. I can't get near her either! She bit me this morning! :love I think she's going to be a very good Mama.

My Miss Priss should have a week or so to go on her eggs - I snuck under the barn with my LED light while she was off snacking and I candled one of her eggs to see how far along they might be. I only candled one, but it was near full term. I know they take 35 days, and this being my first time with 'scovies, I'm guessing that she has roughly a week to go based on development and fullness of the egg. ;)

I plan to keep at least 1 baby from each of my girls, I think, but the rest of the babies will probably go off to the July Mt. Hope swap. :D
