well now i'm all hungry for rhubarb! mine wont grow a lick
:-(

the clean kitchen lasted about 38 minutes.... but there is pie so its worth it. now i'm working on bread.

has anyone else heard about "slow sundays"? its kind of a take back the sabbath and rest for the day kind of thing... but some groups advocate using it as a fossil-fuel-free day. while i cant get behind that aspect as sunday is a church going day.. but i kinda like it the concept. instead of driving around doing errands, its about hanging out at home with the family.

the weather kept us home today and no one is happy. we had a wild morning with tornado warnings, rotation in the storm, and the weather guy shrieking.. so it was quite an ordeal. the humidity is just plain oppressive.

fortunately the storm passed to the south of us but we had all the outside critters locked down and all the inside critters sequestered where we could easily grab them (no one hiding under a bed upstairs) in case we had to all run and hide in the basement.

there was lots of rumbling, wind, and a TON of rain, but we didnt get the worst of it. by the time i could get the computer back up i saw that at least 4 people were dead near Toledo from the storms last nite.

we were thankful we didnt get clobbered. but by the time it was over we missed our leave-for-church time. so boo.

so i'm making bread, eating pie, and in between showers i'm going to run outside and weed the gardens. the good news about all this hot and wet is that everything in the garden is growing.. the bad news is so are the weeds! i havent been able to get anything planted since friday morning (out before 6) so i'm feeling behind.

i guess i'm rolling with this whole slow sunday thing and making the best of it. onward and upward!

:)

I'm gonna have to start paying attention to Sam Champion when he discusses the weather in the Ohio, VA, NC, IN, etc areas so I can know what is going on in ya'lls neighborhoods! Wow - that sounds scary for sure. Basement? Haven't seen one of those in years and years.

Glad you missed the wild weather, and only got soaked instead.

Glad to hear your ok OFG. Slow Sundays sound good to me. I usually try to stay home with the family on Sundays. The stores, traffic and congestion is usually awful around here. Seems like everyone else is out and about. So I avoid it.

Heard about all the crazy bad weather on the news. Glad to hear it wasn't your neck of the woods.

thanks everyone!

today is like we are on a different planet -- totally blue sky, cool, and NO HUMIDITY

i actually feel like we got something done yesterday (except for all the missing church and all)... got a lot of planting done. moved a bunch of stuff so i have more garden area, got a few fruit trees in the ground, and did some mowing.

and as if by magic the barnyard horde all went in very easily last nite... so it was a blessing to just flomp down on the couch last nite with that 'tired but wow we got a lot done' feeling.

the downside is that we lost another duckling. so The Big Man spent all day yesterday working on our defenses by improving the ...well.. fence.

we think either foxy brown has been back getting more groceries.. or its that little hawk thats been around. generally she leaves the barnyard alone and since it was the tiniest duck ( i think she was a micro duck and i really wanted her!) that was the easiest target.

we feel pretty lucky because up until now we've had very few losses due to predators. but we need to step it up and get some of the brush cleared back and such

today i wish a i had a bulldozer.. then i could get some damage done. but until then i'd better get my lazy bones out there.

oh! and its The Big Man's birthday today! golly.. i'd better come up with something quick! hey - maybe birthday pie......

happy monday everyone!

Hubbys are usually easy to find a nice give for. Sometimes it is best to just give a little of yourself ... maybe with a bow on top! ;) ;)
