oh hey everyone!

hi Lori! hi KC! i just sat down for the first time in 4 days.. wow! we have been slammed... its been:

work work work rain rain rain mud mud mud plant plant plant...

and then both trucks broke down - one twice. so then its been:

spend spend spend curse curse curse followed by... lay on the ground and cry.

but gosh that didnt do any good so i got up, brushed then barnyard dirt off, and went back to

work work work, rain rain rain mud mud mud, plant plant plant

and then today:

chase the neighbor's cows.

we love them - the neighbors - but not their cows. got the cows rounded up and we'll head back this afternoon to see if we can fix their fence.

we called the neighbors and told them not to come home from vacay and at the worst we'd bring their slippery-est cow over here and he can hang out with the goats in the fence that works.

the good news about all this cow chasin' is that i may have worked off that pan of lemon bars i ate.

so i made cookies.

happy monday everybody! i'm headed out to work work work, before it rain rain rains so i can slog around in the mud mud mud and get all the planting done.

whew!

and somebody remind me to take a sabbath.. but not today. and not tomorrow. sometime this week (and nope it wasnt sunday either but at least i made it to church).

Who needs a shower when you can just strip down outside and get one for free these days?
I swear June is fast becoming my least favorite month what with all the rain we get. The sky is getting dark again...The ducks are loving the mud though. I love how they stand there and preen in the middle of a downpour

I was gonna PM ya....wondering if you flew off to Hawaii to escape the rain! Wait - it also rains in Hawaii. Well, not for long and you don't need muck boots, hay forks, or an umbrella!

hee hee hee my first thought was:

outside shower = OHMIGOSH THEY ARE WATCHING ME! um.. cuz.. i've done this... shhhhh....

lack hygiene = this is hotly debated in my family. hee hee hee i figure if its so dang hot and swampy that you sweat thru your clothes from just STANDING out there.. why bother. my hubby has taken to hosing me down outside if i try to come in the house too dirty. he's promised to figure out how to rig up an outside solar shower in hope this will solve the problem
;-)

hey murphysranch! yep but on Maui when it rains you can still snorkel! that reminds me.. tomorrow for breakfast i'm having my fav island breakfast... fried rice and a fried egg. whoot!

enough of this slackin.. i'm heading back out.

Have you read her blog? That girl has been BUSY!!! :D
Yes, after I posted I checked her blog to see is she was still breathing. Glad to see you're still with us. Speaking of hosing down outside - well, I don't do that, but hubby has to change clothes 3 times a day (and his Dr. wonders why he's dehydrated). Instead of coming inside in the cool, he stays in his shop with fans running. Went down there yesterday and he had stripped completely, clothes hanging off the fans to dry - all I can say is I'm glad the neighbors didn't come calling.

I'd love to see some of that rain. My poor chickens are so hot they're walking around with their wings spread. I tried to put a fan there yesterday and they ran. Then I put a wading pool so they would stop standing in their water, and they ran. So then I took out the pool and it scared them to death - so I've stopped trying to help. They're going to have a stroke! And in this heat, they're standing on top of each other to crowd in one nest when they've got 6 to choose from - go figure.

I had to move my broody into the quail hutch so she could get some more air....that and everyone was trying to lay on top of her in the coop, poor girl had 7 extra eggs under her. This heat is ridiculous! We haven't gotten enough rain for mud....everything here is crunchy!

wow! i dunno about you but i've been out there bustin' it. in fact..i still have about a half a ton of gravel in the back of the truck i'm supposed to be unloading before the heat comes on.

we have had the heat!

mostly its been all work work work and trying to get as much done as possible before The Big Man screams at me to come in before i flop over in the heat. you know how i am... i figure if they can build the pyramids in the heat of egypt i can get my butt out there and plant a few peppers. invariably i get drug in the house kicking and screaming.

until the sun start setting that is
;-)

mostly tho i've been help captive by The Meep Army... oh that force of cuteness.. i'm defeated by them!

all of the goslings have hatched, including two very late comers who are actually doing great. they are in a tub in the basement tho as they are so far behind the early arrivals. to my hubby's horror it looks like we may have a couple of hand raised goslings in the house... now where are my goose nappies....

here are the pix:
http://adventuresinthegoodland.blogspot.com/2010/06/meep-army-advances.html

in other news:

the neighbors came home from vacay. their cows were all "a-cow-nted" for and we received 2 gift cards - including one to starbucks! whoot!

to be sure we are glad last week is over. not a lot went well ...this week promises to be MUCH better!

so onward and upward!

ok enough slackin, i'm headed out!
:)
