"hey lady! get that darn horse outta here!"

hee hee hee

maybe they were giving ME the mean look for being so pig stinky... phwhew! thems some stanky pigs for sure.

the look on the goats' faces were priceless..... i couldnt help it but show this pic... hee hee hee they are still up at the top of the yard stompin' and snortin'. if they could talk they'd be swearin' about 'there goes the neighborhood' and throwin' their hats down in pure disgust.

and for the record... before i left the (good) neighbors made some crack about how they would either hear the pigs (screaming) when i got back.. or here ME swearin' a blue streak at them. they thought it was hilarious. oh ha ha.

ok they were right. entirely.

the truck still stinks. we're gonna have to take it down to the car wash for sure.

Interesting how my piggies stank when they arrived, gradually smelled better in their little pen, and now that they are on full pasture, there is no detectable smell.

All bets may be off when there is a quarter ton of hog out there, though.

Heeeere piggy piggy piggy!

I think, I may possibly, might have talked DH into real, actual, porking pigs next year. First it was NO pigs! Ever! Now its maybe a mini one or two. Who knows?

Your goats were giving you the stink eye for sure!! Does the stink of pigs over-reek the stench of discontent?

Our sow had 14
3 got squished already right off the bat
2 died from who knows what (tried to save them to no avail)
So we got 9 piglets left who seem to be doing very well

I hate hogs also

We flip from having piglets to buying piglets I tell ya buying piglets is far easier LOL

Hogs are a necessary evil for that delish bacon and sausage LOL

Hi--- hope ya are doing great Ohio! :) hot huh? lol

hey FC!!!! good to see ya!

actually we are in a cool spell and i love it...

yeah pigs. if another person tells me how smart they are i might lash out. sorry for the losses... ugh. i dont know about down there.. but up here feeder pigs are like gold. no body has them and everybody wants them. i keep trying to convince Bourbon Red to get a Tamworth sow and get in biz - but nobody wants to keep a boar, thats for sure.

we've been feeding ours our el-cheapo-use-whatcha-got feed combo of:

goat milk
regular pig grower (not starter)
a big handful of calf manna
hard boiled eggs

one bag of $25 (!!!!!) the calf manna is all we need for the season. and at $17 for the pig starter vs $7 for the grower.. the math works out. and with the milk and eggs we are in like flinn.. i can just hear the bacon growing!

today i also gave them a scoop of grass-only-hay that the goats hated. they are out there stinking everything up.

i still hate them. but that reminds me.. i need to go set out some chops for supper.

Wow....I don't even have a pig and I think I hate them too....we are still trying to use up the chickens we have in the freezer.....just can't seem to eat up all the meat. now we have made a serious dent in the deer meat this year....I don't know what we would do with a pig.....hmmmm, maybe put it on our property line closest to BIL and watch him fume over the stench

The looks on your goats' faces are priceless, btw!

you should have gone through the car wash with the pigs in the back...........

ok, not the wax, but a good ole scrubbing might make those pigs more welcome.

ha! thats exactly what i was thinkin!!!! they are still out there stinkin' it up.

the garden is booming so i'm starting another raised bed. i dont like to bring in compost/topsoil but wow another bed of basil and somewhere to stick the cone flower will really do the trick.

oh and.. (sheepishly) um... we got more ducks!!!!

well i guess they have us - we really didnt think Miss Puddles was gonna hatch with all the screwin' around she was doing. she is quite possibly The Worst Broody EVER...and i went out and low and behold.. more duckings.

this also fits under the heading of "why we write things down" - we were supposed to take up some of the eggs while she wasnt looking and i guess we missed the right date! yikes!!!

the good news is that i fixed some duck breast the other nite and The Big Man loved it. he has naysaying about how he didnt like it, the meat was greasy etc etc... but then he tried it and was shocked at how good it was!

me = told ya so

....but kept it to myself.

dang its fixin to be hot and i have a yard of compost in the back of the truck... no sense in standin' around complaining so i best get to it.

happy hot weather gardening! whatcha doin' loafing around inside? slap on a hat and get out there!

:)
