I think I have found the key to expanding my "farm" without freaking DH out - 4-H projects

you are hilarious, javamama! ha! great work on sneakin' in the critters
:)

i hope we get more poults - we are really kinda hoppin' around about it. i'm kinda nervous. the early hot hot hot just takes its toll on the eggs...and that stupid Foxy Brown and her turkey grabbin' ways. dang!

thanks PCH! a good reminder... i still cant really get my voice back. The Warden is going to keep me on lock down for sure. we're heading out to get more potting soil and i'm going to work on getting the seeds started for my fall garden. how much trouble could i get into? HA! i know.. famous last words....

WZ - dont forget the neighbor kids! heck any child is a good excuse for more ducks!

FD - you said it!!!

BB - can you believe he SKIMMED OFF THE FAT. golly - where's Free.... interesting tho, about the maple syrup... hum.....

so we are off to town in a few to get the potting soil. it will be our 2nd trip (but to a different town).

this morning i totally lucked out - there was a guy on CL that advertised 2nd cutting PURE alfalfa! and he happened to be coming to our little town! so we raced down to meet him and we did a drive by hay purchase. Debbie loves it. so i think we are going to load up. he had another 30 bales.... for $4 each (which is pretty good around here).

we are thinking of milking Debbie thru November... we stopped in Oct last year after we had her bred. but we may just keep going. it took 6 weeks to dry her out and after a while i just gave up...and we wouldnt mind having the milk. so we'll see

ok The Big Man is hollerin' at me to hurry it up... see ya later! say... is Dairy Queen open yet??? its not too early for ice cream, is it?

;-)

i have to run all "big" farm decisions by my father, so i've been pestering him relentlessly for some pigs for a while. he is ardently against it. he has terrible memories of our hog barn in W TN when i was a kid- the stink, the noise, the constant fear that my sister and i were going to get eaten by pigs.... but my memories are of the greatest thing that ever happened to children: using a hand crank meat grinder and making sausage!

luckily, my niece has my dad wrapped around every finger and toe (and she's only 10 months). whenever i say the word "piggies" she looses it and just starts squealing and laughing. so, my dastardly plan is to set her loose on my father. i should have my pigs in no time! bwa hahahahaha!

At first I thought you meant me when you mentioned skimming fat, but I didn't recall saying that, then I realized you meant Bibliophile Birds, guess what, we have two BB's!

OFg, I want a picture of Vita! (Or was it Veta?)
