and yep. still got the epizooties or whatever..
;-)

The Warden (previously known as The Big Man) has been chasing me back to the couch every time i get up... i'm about to just wave the white flag and believe him. and the heat outside/then come inside to the AC is wearin' me down too. so boo. no fun at all
:-(

It did get into the low 80's a while ago. It was ok for me though b/c I'm used to it. My poor old St. Bernard earned a day spent at the beach though. She went right out and swam in the sound...I think she scared the whales away. (Still have not seen a whale!)

Do you wanna know what I think is soo funny about the people up here? They think hot is 76! :gig They even get a bit grumpy. :p

It is so cold right now I'm in my warm jacket and footed jammies as I sit here...burrr! (Not trying to rub it in, I lived in TX most of my life, I paid my dues.)

And yes, my friends are escaping the heat for a while...me thinks they wont want to go home. :p That is what happened to me anyway. ;)

I hope you feel better soon. Going in and out from heat to ac will make anyone feel crappy, especially if you are already sick. Listen to The Warden. :p

hey everybody!

wow that was easy peasy --- we banged out all 4 of our jakes/young toms. took about 30 mins for each, but we are the WORST pluckers ever. and the more tired we get the worse we pluck so that last one is pretty bad. HA!

so now its really quiet and everyone is glad (well... maybe.. except for the 4 who are now chilling in the fridge....).

we started with 17 turks this fall/winter and now we only have TZ and Turkey Bob as our toms... Runner, Turkey Momma, and Bramble as our mature hens...and 2 more younger hens. and then 3 remaining poults.

we probably could had waited on the jakes so they'd be a bit heavier, but really the 3 we dressed earlier this year were monsters and it was kind of a fight taking them down, as it were. ahem.

but

we really have had a disastrous hatches this spring and are hoping for some fall clutches... so we need the space and thought it would be better to clear out the bachelor coop and let our hens nest in there.

Turkey Momma is already laying... and our poor Bramble will probably be off for a while. she is recovering from her injury but we dont want to risk her being out in the weeds again. so we will have to be inside the former bachelor coop. we think we'll put Turkey Bob in there with her for you know, a little, "brown chicken, brown cow." plus he needs to stop roosting in the chicken house - for heavens sakes he's HUGE!

thats our turkey word.

:)

Hey - if you ever decide to sell any poults let me know. I think I have found the key to expanding my "farm" without freaking DH out - 4-H projects ;) :D

Sure glad to hear you're feeling better. It just sucks when you're incapacitated and have so much work to do. Not like someone else can do it, coz there is no-one else. Life on a farm
Still, I wouldn't trade it for a cubicle job, not yet anyhow...
