I went today and bought some seed to plant for fall and the lady tried to talk me into tomatos. No thank you! After the total catastrophe from spring I'll just take a break this go 'round! She did say an ol' timer ("guarantee he's 100") told her to put some lime and epsom salts in every hole if you are transplanting tomato plants.
But I'm spineless ... I can't do it... I can't take such failure again. LOL

OFG - we made peach pie but the recipe had "cloves" in it. Do you use cloves? I could sure have done without them but didn't know what else to use.

At last - someone else who hates UT football.
i HATE football and UT football the most. wanna know the best bit? my grandfather is a big fan and has all these weird connections in the department and the team has been coming out to the farm for their team picnics and letterman's reunions since the 70s. it's gross. i hate it. i hide.

mine started in high school too, just because i thought it was so stupid. i went to every football game though. NOT out of school spirit or because i liked the game, but because my best friend was in band (he was the drum major our senior year). i was that awesomely cool kid who made a shirt that said "Band Groupie, because any idiot can kick a ball." you can imagine how popular i was..... :D

I am guessing University of Tenn.

I watch NFL, but I usually am working on a craft project at the same time. Hubby gets mad because I flip back and forth between games. :D

AL, I put epsom salts and crushed oyster shell in the holes before I planted. My tomatoes went CRAZY.

Peaches are SOOOO good all by themselves, with a touch of sweetening with sugar or honey or stevia. I don't spice mine at all.

Picked some up today at the farmstand...

Not just University of Tennessee - but the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Bleck!

Biblio - is the fire on the mountain getting close to your place? We can see the smoke from ours.

Al, I use epsom salt in our tomato planting hole also, along with plenty of good old rabbit poo. I read somewhere this year that you should side dress them with epsom salt also, but I'm not sure at which stage you should do it. Wifey - good idea on the oyster shells. And I have some on hand. Oh well- next year folks.

Speaking of tomatoes....I put mine in Aug 6th ish....I know late late late. But better late than never right?

So they have grown a little and look fine, but not great. I have several little green maters, but not a single blossom in some time.

Any ideas on how to perk these little guys up? I know the soil sucks, so thye may just be doomed.

Where the pie OFG....and heck while we are at it, it is almost Friday...how's abouta cocktail?

I have some wine! It is young yet and tastes like Two Buck Chuck....and that is exactly what each bottle cost to make! (A bit less, I think, actually! And no taxes!) If y'all will wait a few months, it might get pretty good...

I'll take a cocktail Dace! It is faux Friday after all.

Free how long do you have to let your wine age? Congrats by the way!

My tomatoes went in at the right time and I still have nothing but greens. Free did yours ever ripen? I guess we just didn't get hot enough this year. (I'm not complaining!)
