its cuz i'm so superfly, D! and yes b/c we are both so short. ha! whooot!

ok today was the big sleep in and now i got to get to it. actually its going so much fast b/c we arent milking Vita. Debbie just takes a second and i'm only milking Nibbles in the morning. but wow she is so over the milking thing. she keeps giving me mean looks. i have our breeding plans all squared away. all them b*tches will be gone on dates for part of october. my hubby and i looked at each other and said - we could actually GO somewhere. shocking!

we got a lot done yesterday. mostly still working on cover crops to improve the soil. we had dueling tillers yesterday in a patch outside the gate. its supposed to rain today so we might get lucky.

today we have more and more tilling and seeding... and tons of clearing and burnpiles. we think there are more fox dens down past the pond so we are working our way down there. and we are keeping an eye out for bad dogs.

and at some point someone has to shovel out this kitchen... the kitchen fairies did not do it last nite. dang!

:)

i think your truck story jinxed me.

yesterday, i was going to meet a friend at the opening day of the state fair. i was determined to get there before 4:30 because tickets were only a $1 then. i was cutting it WAY close, but i succeeded in making it to the parking lot entrance by 4:25.

and then my car died. and there was smoke. and no power steering. soooooo..... i had to wait for AAA to come tow me. it was 45 mins of just about every redneck in TN walking by and laughing at me. and of course i also had to pay full price ($9) to get into the fair after that. so i essentially just paid about $500 to see livestock at the fair.

did i mention that the poultry barn, my whole reason for being there, was only half full because the exhibitors don't have to be there until TODAY?

major fail.

happy sunday evening everyone!!!

Bibbird - oh no! sorry about the car situation... boo! i hate car stuff. ick. yep the pointing and laughing.. ugh.. thats rough...

hey K! yep. we figured we should let Ginger go on to greener pastures. we just dont think she'll be a good milker so we need to do something else.

a gal might take her - trade for some little stuff. i figure that if Ginger can be someone's new friend then great. we arent going to make our money back on her (which was really just feed) and she is on my hubby's last good nerve. so its not like we are loosing any $$ and she's been a good companion to the ladies out there all summer.

we put the little gooses, formerly the Inside Meeps, into the hen/goat yard and Ginger keeps chasing them. that was his last straw. the Meeps are just so darn cute and snugly - unlike that demon gander OD who'd just as soon spit in your eye as anything. at some point i have to list the other goslings but dang - i just love them. and i have a flock of geese! whoot!

so anyway, i need to decide if i take her lame offer and just chalk it up to doing a good deed or wait and see. there are a lot of boers listed right now... so i need to make a decision. of course i just listened to a church sermon on not being greedy or stingy and "paying it forward" so i got the conviction on me! yikes!!!

on the upside, maybe i'll make a new friend. one of the gals i sold ducks too ended up being a good pal - and my hairdresser! so you never know.

i laughed b/c she said she trade me this and that and this and ... KITTENS! ha!!!! my man wasnt hearing that AT ALL (looks over at half The Insane Cat Posse)!!

so thats my day so far. got more maters going on the stove and listening to the fools down the road setting of fireworks. idiots.. sheesh!

now i'm gonna go and tell the pigs how much i hate them. and yes, WZ, i'd hate them kune pigs too. bad. if its a pig i'll hate it. and no i'm not a sucker for all that marketing. pigz is pigz and thats what i got to say about that.

Sometimes the money isn't worth it and it is more worth it to move something on. I'm thinking about moving on my Boer doe. We were going to breed her and use her offspring for our own meat but now we really aren't sure that we need that. So no use keeping her if we don't need the meat. Although for some reason I am attached to her and having a hard time getting the pictures to list her. I'll probably do it this week. I wouldn't mind being down another goat. If she doesn't sell, that is ok too.

I bet you'd let a Kune Kune in the house as a pet if you got one! They are adorable! I went to a farm and saw them close and personal. :gig

ah heck no!

the only way one of them porcine demons is comin in my house in over my shoulder quartered, skinned and ready for parting up!!!! pig is a friend, my eye.

ha!
;-)

yeah we nillynallied around about Ginger. she is a sweet little thing but the goose chasing sealed her fate. she's funny - i have to admit.

i've been trying to come up with excuses NOT to list the other goslings.. i'm figuring if we have another hard winter we may need them to come in the house and sleep with us on the bed.. you know, instead of the "Three Dog Night" it will be a "Six Goose Night".. just think how snugly we'd be under all those feathers!

now the screaming and the pooping.. that would be another matter so alas, this just isnt a selling point on why we should keep them.

wow they are really cute! most have the little roman top knot. they look like they have little pompoms on their heads! i love them!

Don't you know that you can buy or make chicken diapers, which I'm sure could be adapted to "heating pad" geese?

An infant diaper with a tail-hole cut into it and pink suspenders worked great for baby Plum, if you will recall! That baby was a peeing machine!
