Oh, that makes more sense. She acts more like a jealous and resentful sibling. One who is not too bright, too.

hey baby!

for the crisp:

use the same filling as the pie (fruit + tapioca + brown sugar + cinn + vanilla) then make a crumble topping out of the same amounts (for instance, 1/2 cup each) of:

* oatmeal - i like the old fashioned ones NOT the quick cooking kind
* brown sugar - this is why i dont like to use a lot in the filling cuz you put it on top too!
* flour - dont know what the GF option is on this

then cut in butter (like when you make a pie crust or biscuits) - i dont use a ton there is always more dry stuff then clumpy buttered stuff...

get your slow oven going.... 325*ish, put in a pan.. and cook for about an hour. the longer it cooks the better it is! you can always crank up the heat for the last 10-ish minutes if the topping isnt crunchy enough.

whoot!

so delicious!

its a rain day!!! whooot!

so excited. yesterday i got some stuff tilled up and some gypsum into the soil. the guy at the feed store recommended it so here's hoping. and since its finally raining.. wow hopefully i get get my cover crops to grow.

and today its all apples and potatoes all the time. i'm gonna try canning some taters and getting some applesauce done. but that crisp i made didnt really even make it two days. wow it was great.

and

RIBS!

The Big Man has the smoker out there cranked up and its gonna be bourbon-butter-cider RIBS!

thats right, pigz..... thats your future! i'm so excited. for lots of reasons. yesterday after clearing a huge section out below the pig area we figured we should just re-fence the just cleared section and let them get rid of all the rest of the poison ivy. so thats tomorrow or this weekend.

and i'm having an epic farm breakfast.. one of my favs.. greens with onions and bacon... topped with eggs and oh yes.. some of the cheese i made! and a peach jam scone. and very very good coffee from my secret boutique stash..

i posted this over on the cheese press page but just in case you are interested in "i'm cutting the cheese" pictures:
http://adventuresinthegoodland.blogspot.com/2010/09/cutting-cheesecurds.html

with a shout out to Lori for getting me to say "Clampet-ing".. now my hubby is using it every time i hillbilly-up something. if i can only hit some oil here.. that would be the ticket.

thats the word here.

whoooot!

Oooh, I missed all the fun. Been busy with farm stuff you know and butchering a deer.

That apple crips sound yum though. I think I got just enough to make one tonight. It is my turn to do dinner anyhow. I got a few apples off of our tree and the neighbor brought us some for the goats, Ha, the goats can have the peels, we're having us some apple crisp!!!
I think I'll cook up the deer liver and heart tonight. I wonder if my family here will even like it! I love liver. It might just be me and the dog eating it, though. :p

Hey girl, you better put your eye to the sky! Bad weather popping up. We are fine here, it split and went around us. Tornado sirens are going off though. Stay safe.
