Indeed. Safe and warm!!!

:)

I need to get my propane tanks still. :he

We have real snowstorm. It's more like ice than snow, but it's sticking and we'll see how much we get. I would like wood too. We have a fireplace. Otherwise, I'm fully prepared. Spare foods, blankets, water...

From the news around here, you would think it's the end of civilization as we know it. :p

Lot's of "ifs" even in the posted warnings....

Hey Buckeyes, check out
www.buckeyetraffic.org and select the road sensors view on the pick list on the left, then update the map.

all of the sensors on my route to work are claiming "ice warning" or "error".

guess who's staying home today?

Not my husband :p He woke up early and went in at 4:30. I poked my head out the door and heard the unmistakable sound of someone scraping ice off a car. Our road seems fine. Or there are alot of idiots driving way too fast  The salt truck has probably gone by 20 times already.

Hope you all still have electricity this icy morning. The next storm is on it's way :caf

FYI - be very careful while letting the critters out! Someone who shall not be named did not bring the hay up like I asked for last night. I put my neck out or I'd have done it myself. So I had to skate out to the hay garage, holding the fence to keep from falling. I got a laundry basket with 3 flakes for the day because that's all I could manage. Treacherous is the right word for today. My heart is still pounding from the exercise I just got

Cool link Jamie, I checked the sensors for my route to work and 1 was error, 1 said icy, and the others were chemically wet. I will also be staying home today. I haven't even gone out to let the chickens out yet. I will not be opening them today and I fed them all late yesterday and filled up waterers. I think I will go out and check on them in a bit, trying to let the ice melt a little.

My husband also went into work this morning. A couple of the country roads he takes to main roads were icy, then our state route was slushy, but he said the freeway into Columbus was just wet. I hope it stays that way for his drive home this evening.

WOW what a big mess out there!

we are right about on the edge of all this flimflam and will probably lean more toward rain until later tonite...

but until then its all ice all the time

i took the dogs out and poor little Kai just slid down the deck stairs like a rag doll. she couldnt even get her feet under her and just sprawled there like a little bug!

we are hoping we'll get just one more degree to be above freezing and hopefully we can get some traction. i might just keep the goats inside today. i dont want them to fall on the glacier that is our goat yard. i think i saw Debbie's babies squirming aroudn yesterday so i dont want to take any chances.

and we are just hunkering down...

cookies - check!
bread - check!
water - check!
water for critters - check!
easy to make-on-the-woodstove suppers - check!
trucks have gas - check!
books on famous historical warlords - check!
bottle of tequila - goes without saying if you know what i mean...

ok so if Nature wants to give us a storm.. blow you Mother blow!!!

whooooot!

*stands defiantly outside shaking fist, slips and falls in a heap* yikes!
