wow did this take off in a totally crazy direction!

so yesterday was an epic burn pile.. but i really just popped in to say 'wish me luck i'm going to dodge lightening strikes to go and milk'

there is no real end in site to this rain/thunderstorm.. ugh! its been going on since 5am.

i dunno even how to address some of this.. um so....

DL - Nicholas OUTSIDE!?!? um.. no we need to protect the general public from him. but he would have been a h*ll of a barncat for sure. did you know that we think is daddy was Dragon the Most Feared of All BarnCats? if Nicholas were a person he'd be a Viking for sure.

Free - wow! Plum looks great! but i didnt need to cut the ears off my lamanchas...i just let them freeze off in the cold and just never did anything about it. you know, ears flop of... whatever. (yes i've been accused of this)

OFG cam? oh golly you shoulda seen me yesterday...

anyway the storm is picking up.. i'll be back later but wish me luck!

happy tuesday everyone!

Free, that is a very pretty goat. Henrietta and Deb, you are too funny.
sd, she is a cutie. But seriously, she is getting fierce like her mom. This spring she is starting to walk stiff-legged with her hair up and challenge others....especially the new kids!

She is on one of the platforms that I put in my only muddy spot. You can see the "bloks" that form stepping stones to the barn door. Prissy little goats!

I just looked to see if they are still available as I bought them decades ago as a young, single gal. Yikes! $80 per pair! http://www.statelinetack.com/item/b...ferralID=6637f966-6a88-11e0-a86a-001b2166c2c0

This past fall it was my job to "do the deed" with our meaties....hubby processed everything, can I just say how much I love him for that?

Anyway, I had the last batch in there and had to chase them around the tractor a bit to get hold of them and I found myself saying in a motherly voice, as I held them upside down by their feet, "it's alright, it'll be alright, calm down"

Then I caught myself and said, out loud, "well, it won't be alright but it'll be over in a minute so shut up already."

I love to catch the "newbies" in TSC....cracks me up. I had a wonderful conversation with one the other day and informed her that the big chicks that already had feathers, were not "pet" chickens and would not be egg layers.

She looked at me like I was nuts, "don't all chickens lay eggs?"

Me- "not those, they're frankenchickens...you eat those. If you don't kill them soon they'll have a heart attack and die on ya"

her, in shock- "chickens have heart attacks!!!"

Yeah, gotta love THOSE conversations around the chick pen...:p

Well, I might as well chime in on the TSC chicken neewbies.

I was behind a guy at check out, and he had a "boat load" of chicken stuff, 2 - 50# bags of feed, 50# bag of corn, feeders, waterers, and a box of fluffy peeps. But the last thing he put on the belt, cracked me up... wait for it...wait for it...

A stack of 10-20 egg cartons   :gig

I told him he was counting his eggs before they were laid, and he got that confused dog look, tilted head and was HUH?!?!?!?

Priceless!!!

I think we enjoy those TSC conversations a little too much! Ours didn't sell chicks this year so I didn't get to have one and I regret it!

That was my first TSC conversation and I enjoyed myself  My kids seemed to enjoy it once we talked about it later. I wonder sometimes if one of them is going to get in trouble at school by repeating something they heard at home about our animals and food and where it comes from.

I am happy to talk to people at Tsc about chickens and stuff but I am astonished at some of the stuff that comes out of their mouths...chicken swaps are a hoot too!

I will never forget watching a couple ooh and aah over a cage full of "teeny tiny chickens, honey".....walked away laughing my butt off....they were quail....

Oh that reminds me, when we were at TSC about 2-3 weeks ago there was a bin full of chicks and a youngish lady and her boyfriend came up and she said look at all the cute ducks! She went on and on about how cute the ducks were and her boyfriend looks at her and says "You know those are chickens, not ducks, right?"

I had to walk away...

Auntie can't come til next week :( But it's in good cause. Hoping to hear good news from her soon on my fairy godson :D He needs a program desperately.

But I'll see if she can abicam.

Too bad, I'm just finishing a cascade and I'm hilarious. My teacher said I acted just like her in a serious mania phase. bwahahaha. I'm like, yeh, my cascades are a bit like doing x. My pupils get HUGE and pulse too.

So I'm off today with no visitors. I guess I'll make a petticoat.
