yep, SD, we are really sensitive to her joints - especially since she is still growing (fast). mostly she is eating half pup food and half big dog (large dog breed, no grain) chow and we'll transition her soon. and of course i supplement with lots of good stuff.

and yep we figured she was on track. TBM and i just stood and looked at her yesterday, gave a big sigh, and said to each other "the chewing stage." (another big sigh)

last nite i had to take her out of the dog area, put her on her "place" and give her a rawhide chew to refocus her. thankfully it worked and we made a note to get her more.

we know she's starting to get "teenager-y" b/c she growled when my hubby went to take something from her (she got the business for that!) - so of course we've been taking things from her all day and making her Sit at attention (Look At Me), and then "OK go."

i think Ti was in this phase for about 2 days - but our little Miss Wiggles is gonna be harder. we knew that tho when we got her - so we are ready. the good news is that i make a point to make sure she spends time alone with TBM - he's our alpha here and she knows it.

it also helps to enforce that we are both The Boss of Her and that she bonds with both of us. otherwise she'd just spend almost all her time with me. while i love that Ti is my "Jerry McQuire dog" (he completes me and he had me at hello) - Kai will be easier to handle if she knows that we both are watching her.

i love the idea of having them play ball alone! Kai actually doesnt have any hoots about retrieving - she just likes the running. i think she sees herself as running down a bear. Ti is the "bear" and he thinks she is The Most Annoying Little Sister EVER.

even tho she's in her teenage phase we still adore her - you should see her get all smiley when TBM comes home. she's one happy dog. i told the breeder that we got the best one!

:)

Maybe try something frozen since she is hot, it might cool off her itchy gums. I've even used just ice cubes if they dogs would chew on them. But if you have any rope toys soak them in water and then freeze them in a baggie. Or the stuff-the-toy-with-something that I talked to you about before. But the frozen part helps just like when a baby is teething and the cold helps. This is a good stage for those rope toys, tug toys and gum massager ones, but she what you got that can be frozen and try that.

She's so cute when she's tired. :love Did she go for a swim today? That burns some extra energy. I hope your garden survives her.

I'm pouting cause I missed the party at your place last night. Everybody said it was a doozie.

I took a handtowel, soaked it and froze it for Rio.... he loved it. Also filled a beef marrow bone with peanut butter and treats then froze it - that was for when he went to Texas with me.

AL I do that too and I also like to fill bones with just wet dog food frozen inside, they really go for that too and not so fattening for certain dogs like probably Fat Liver.

puppies! Glad you know how to deal with dogs. I get so annoyed at people who give up training by the teething stages.
