I have NEVER heard of a mean Bassett, but obviously it can happen. Chloe is our third, and although each one has been very different in personality, they have all been friendly and sweet. I suppose it might have something to do with the owners.Henrietta23 said:I have to admit a slight fear of Bassetts, because two of the meanest dogs I knew while working at a vet clinic were Bassetts. I've met several sweet ones since but I always procede with caution when I meet one! Bassetts and Chihuahuas. Bad experiences to get over with both breeds! :/

Chihuahuas though.... they obviously hold a grudge against the entire human race. Who can blame them- we turned them into "feeder dogs".
