I think I am going to have some confusion between the two eating styles.

Nuts are good. heavy cream etc.. oh man I just looked at my cream and its ultra pasteurized. Dace what brand do you buy???

Is there a manual some where I can read. I do much better if I have a guide book?

gina
No need for confusion, just ask as you go. When something pops into your head post a question here, or on my journal or on Free's.

My heavy cream is a new brand and I never even read the ingredients :hide
Ultrapasteurized, skim milk, mono & diglycerides, polysorbate, and carrageenan :sick

Here is your manual:

64 oz water
10 servings veg
2 servings fruit
cut sugar & refined carbs
No low fat or fat free anything
Keep EVOO, butter and coconut oil -toss margerine, and veggie oils
NO SOY

:thumbsup

Dace, oatmeal is ok?
Yes, nice and high in fiber...be careful of sweeteners though and I would limit to oatmeal to a couple times a week.

Free....thoughts on oatmeal?

Ok so the only thing I really need to do is get rid of the carbs and sugar :hide, add more veggies. I cut out the oil and shortening and went to EVOO, butter and non hydrogenated lard a while back. Is the lard good? I only use it when I absolutely have to.

I have not had margarine in about 15 years.

I don't do soy and refuse to give it to my kids. Especially my girls. Oh, wait. My coffee creamer is soy. Got to get the half and half.

I posted your manual and I'm going to tape it to the fridge.

:thumbsup

For us oatmeal is made maybe once a week if that. I am getting 18 eggs a day and it shows when I make breakfast. We were sweetening it with brown sugar. What about agave or honey?

Ok here's my first question. How do frozen veggies rate? Unfortunately I have to rely on them now and again. At least until the garden comes around.

Oatmeal is ok, but not the packets. It should have one ingredient only: Oats! The packets are full of sugar and chemicals, and you don't save significant time.

Best is the long-cooking kind, instant are fine if you cook them yourself. Long-cooking is like 10-15 minutes, so we are not talking lots of time here.

Add butter, salt, cream if you like, cinnamon, chopped apple (with the skin, if you like it colorful...it is better, more fiber) and a bit of stevia (plain stevia, I like the drops, powder packets are fine, too, NOT TRUVIA....it is falsia...unless you love Monsanto!) The butter and/or cream are important for stick-to-the-ribs-ness, especially for the kids. Remember, a serving is....half a cup, cooked! So have some eggs, too, if you'd like a bigger breakfast. Skip the toast.

For the quickest weight loss, skip grains as much as possible. Limit grain carbs to maybe one serving every other day. Let your carbs be beans, lentils, sweet potato, yams.....1/2 cup. Cook beans with salt pork or bacon, dress yams and sweet potatoes with butter, cheese, sour cream. Full fat, of course.

Frozen veggies are second best to fresh, but we use them, too. But think about what is available frozen....mostly things like corn, peas, mixtures containing corn and peas! We buy frozen greens and frozen berries, and that is about it. There are frozen green beans, which we both detest, and asparagus, pricey, I wait for fresh in season. There is not much more that I can think of that is useful frozen...oh, brocolli florets are good, too. Butter and/or cheese!

If I can get enough interest, I will run another 12 week teleconference course starting in June. See what you can learn on a thread? Imagine 12 classes, almost an hour each, with me talking a mile a minute!

ok, next question - where do you buy good cheese? Dace mentioned having a chunk of cheddar as a snack. Well, if a person doesn't make their own cheese, what cheese do you suggest they buy?
