QA, good for you for making the leap. I consider this a huge part of my personal SS because I don't want to be dependent on doctors or be a burden to anyone when I get older.
I fell off the wagon - so to speak -for a little bit. I got lazy due to lack of sleep for unknown reasons. But I just went and got a huge load of veggies that I'll be chopping up in a few minutes. Should last us the rest of the week. I'm going on a 3 day veggie fast, with protein if I need it (I'll need it, LoL)

Here's a tip - plant some greens! They should still have enough time to grow this season especially if you can find a spot with filtered light - or plant varieties that are slow to bolt. And they don't take much space at all.

Visit a farmers market if you have one close by, greens are usually much cheaper there than the grocery.

Cheese- I LOVE the seriously sharp cheddar!

Living a low glycemic lifestyle is very compatible with a ss lifestyle, as long as you choose the right plants for your garden (don't plant potatoes, peas, corn) and raise your own meat, milk, and eggs. Hunting and foraging are both healthy choices, too.

I so relate to that thought. :)

I've also gotten off the wagon and am in need of a sharp kick in the rear.

I am so lucky that I get violently ill when I fall off the wagon.

Nothing like permanent MOTIVATION!

Now that's a great attitude Abi!
Preaching to the choir for a moment - even for those of us who don't get violently ill, many times you notice things that you never connected with food get so much better. Moods, PMS, acne (shame on doctors who say it has nothing to do with diet!) just to name a few...

That's funny that you say not to plant potatoes. I was out in the garden this a.m. and I have 4 potato plants in one box. I am thinking geesh, what a waste of space. They are pretty small. Maybe I will pull them and plant something else.

That's a great chart Wifey. I don't have a scale so they may be a good idea for me.

I am off to the veggie store today. Going to buy and prep so the fridge is full and ready to go.

:thumbsup

Ok, so I'm seriously going to try this - but I didn't get off to a good start. Breakfast was cheese and coffee :hide

Right now, for my noon meal, I'm cooking bacon and scrambled eggs with green peppers, a little bit of onion, and some mushrooms mixed in. I do have some sharp cheddar - although it was made with pasteurized milk - that I'm shredding to add to the eggs.

I also have two sweet potatoes - so I'm taking the plunge, and am going to bake them and pray that I like them.

For dinner, I'm not sure yet - I'm thinking Northern Beans and Ham or Whole Wheat Spaghetti - suggestions?
