Send your kid over to catch my quail Two got out and I think they are hiding under my shed. Of course, we had falcons hanging around this morning so they may have been a snack...

My friend that went with us Friday night got some quail and she has chased them so many times it is ridiculous! They found some kind of whole in their nursery box/cage and was getting out as fast she was catching them and putting them back in! She got like 9 or 10 and she is down to 3 or 4 now! She has a big net that she uses to catch hers with.

Adorable bucklings, Pam! Thanks for sharing the pics! How is Lily doing?
We gave her a shower with the hose today and scrubbed her all down and she looks healthy again! She just needs a little more weight on her and then she will look like her pre pregnancy self! She is eating lots of grass but is still not eating her grain. But at least she shows some interest in her grain.
The goatie babies are doing better and better!

Today's blog post recommendation: Gifts in a Jar!

Update on the baby goats: One of the baby goats has not been doing well since Saturday. Not doing well at all. Last night a friend of mine who is WAY more experienced in goats than I am took him and is trying all that she can to help him get better. The other goatie baby is doing great! Lily, the mom, is still not eating that great. She is also not giving very much milk. I am not sure what all is wrong with her. She LOOKS healthy otherwise.

My meat rabbits are doing good!

I got 5 more boxes of Tattler Lids that came in the mail yesterday so now I am up to 10 boxes! YAY! That is enough to do 120 canning jars! I know it is weird but I feel like everything that I can using the Tattler lids is FREE! I already have the jars. A lot of them were either given to me or I got for a very good price at garage sales or are jars I have been using for years. Now I can use the Tattler lids on 120 jars over and over and over again!! I am saving my seeds so I will not have much ongoing expense in seed. I feel like everything that I can that I have nearly no expense in...except mostly time...is also money saved out of our grocery bill and family budget!

When we had our first baby goats I feel like our little place finally became a REAL homestead! I know we probably already was considered one since we garden and have chickens and such but for some reason having the goatie babies born here made it more real! Does that make sense??

Hi Pam!!! I get the feeling. I kinda felt the same way when we processed our first birds. Such a great feeling.

I hope the baby goat pulls through.

We lost one of our baby goats today. He stopped eating on Saturday and just went down hill from there. I took him over to a friend's house on Monday evening to see if she could help him because she is more experienced with goats than I am and she also tried all she could but he passed away today. Today was the original due date, they were 10 days premature. The other goatie baby is doing great. It is a sad day at our house today. :hit

And to add salt to the wounds the person that owns the buck we got our does bred by is bad mouthing me on FB saying it was all MY fault and that I did not give them the care they should have been given from the beginning.

Aw darn :hit You did your best. :hugs

...And what is wrong with people that they feel the need to come after a person like that? :smack A breeder should know that sometimes things just happen that are out of our control.
