Hopefully good news tomorrow morning!

I love animal babies! DH has a strict rule: All pets must be fixed before they are welcome in our home :( So no adorable puppies or kittens here.

I would like a kitchen garden too. I have never grown fresh herbs, but would like a small SFG with herbs in it. Thankfully, I have several months to decide where to put it and hound DH about building it :p (If hounding doesn't work, I'm pretty good at stacking bricks! )

well ive been up since 4am and still no babies...
ruby spent last drama queening it up, squeeking restless, no contractions though so yeah...
no pups yet, but im guessing anytime beteen now and 5am

personally im a big advocate of spay and neuter, and i think raising litter as cute as they are is certnaly not for everyone lol....especially when going through the up all night cause momas due to pop (i prefer to NOT let an animal birth alone...that policy may change a little with livestock, but indoor pets, especially dogs, nope, im there just in case, 1 stuck pup can result in not only the entire litter but the female as well...

i used to show and such so kinda held onto alot of the ideals of the pet dog breeding, generally walking that fine line between being scum of the earth backyard breeder breeding pets and adding to the overpopulation problem... and a good responisble breeder trying to contriute something special to the breed once in a while.

in show dog circles im a Back yard breeder, scum of the earth monster because i dont show my dogs (the ring is not for me, nor my dogs, too much drama and it lost its charm quickly)
but to a true BYB im one of those snobby better than you breeders because i dont raise litters to make a profit, i focus on health and temperment, i heavily socilize and sell pups on spay/neuter contacts with a strict return policy shoudl the new owner not be able to keep the dog...
so in reality im not quite either lol...its a weird line, you get attacked by both sides of that line frequently because your not like either of them...
but i do it for me, i feel like ruby contributes brains and personality and jasper conributes structure and drive making some stunning babies with tonns of potential to be not only great pets but do well in agility, ob, lure coursing ect (jasper LOVES to lure course and has beaten out many a whippet in fun matches)

*shrugs*

oh well...no real plans for today, its wednesday so that means bird cages and litterbox get deep cleaned (trash day tomorrow), sweep, mop, straighten.
Think im going to take the measurment for the shelf i want to build into the fish tank stand so i can get some more stuff off the floor in the livingroom...and measure up for a book case for behind the door...i figure i can buy baskets for it to put shoes and such in so there not just on the bookcase...
i also think ill take the measurments for the shelves i want to put up in the kitchen too.

yeah i think today will be a tidy, measure up and plan kinda day.

Truthfully, I don't like the term back yard breeder. Why? Because there's irresponsible breeders of all shapes and sizes. Someone who is careful w/their breeding program, whether they're producing just an occasional litter or several litters in a year is, IMO, a breeder, period. Someone who thinks only about their pocket w/no thought for the quality of the animal is not a breeder, but a mill.

i like that distinction :)

when people tell me they make money breeding thier pets i first want to hit them, then ask how...
i can see how if you have a larger breed that has large litters and your not a shower...

and yes i do make a couple pennies of a litter, but by the time you deduct the expenses (xray, shots, food vet checks ect) im LUCKY if i break even...

enough on that though :)

ruby whent into actie labor at 3:11 pm,
first puppy was born at 4:44pm, a beautiful black and white powderpuff female, shes going to be a stunner!
second puppy was born 5:04pm, a beautiful white (shes going to be spotted) hairless female
third puppy was born at 5:22pm, a lovely powderpuff white with black mask male.

thats it, i cleaned out the box and set it all up scomfy cozy at 7:30 after she passed all 3 placentas and contractions seem to have completly stopped, i wont be "at ease" until about 9:30 though, up to 4 hours between pups isnt unusual and on her last litter the final pup was brn about 3 hours after the others, so ill be keping close watch on her just in case theres a little one left....
but i think shes done
...3 beautiful puppies all weighing in around 6oz.
i didnt think this was going to be a big litter and im kinda glad she stopped at 3.

both females are currently spoken for assuming noone falls through.

pictures will come after i eat dinner... :)

in my experience they tend to loose the red markings as they age, shes going to be realy flashy though!

second born
True Hairless White and slate spotted Female 6.1oz

shes going to be quite flashy as an adult too becuase its highly likely shell develop more freckles against pink skin...she may end up blue eyes too!

third born
Powderpuff Black Masked Male 5.7oz

id say thank you but i cant take any credit for that beyond pairing the dogs up lol.
they all did wel over night, i was a little worried because the amibiant air temp dropped last night (frost on the ground this morning) so i turned the heat pad up a notch before bed and they seem to be fine. gonna check the lowsfor this comming week though and might actually end up bringing the radiator back in for the first couple of weeks...
just for night time use.

in good news, weigh in this morning, each puppy has nicely increased weight overnight, which means theyre feeding well! YAY.
the male im expecting to be small small (as in small for the breed) im expecting him to end up around the 5 1/2-6lbs mark like jasper...
the girls are both looking to be in the 8lb range at maturity...
obviously those are just gustimates based on birth weight, typical development and puppy weight charts from various ty breeds...
but daddy is 5 1/2lbs and momma is 9 so 6-8lbs definatly sounds about right :)

in other good news, Dozer is doing well, weight dropped a little but his belly isnt nearly as distended as it was almost a week ago.
hes settling in very nicely, not as talkative in his crate at nights now which is awesome...still needs a potty break around 3am (right now i have the crate split in half because at 5 weeks he simply cant control it yet, and isnt letting me know he needs to go out for obvious reasons.
once he hits 8 weeks though the divider will go in the crate (depending on his size by then lol) and we'll start crate training/housebreaking in earnest.

today hasnt yet been planned, oatmeal for breakfast, playtime with dozer, and ill probably get the measurements that i didnt manage to get yesterday so i can get this livingroom a little more "together" lol

i just found out that there might actually be a zumba class going on that i can afford within driving distance.
i emailed the instructor to find out the details but its about 15 mins down the road every tues and thurs (ill probbaly go once a week untill i get my budget properly figured out)

im so excited...even if its just once a week its something to do/some place to go, might be a good way to meet people (even if i suck at it lol) and is good excersize to keep up wiht my weight loss!

*fingers crossed*
