LOL, as long as its not bread ill take anything LOL! i hit the bakery outlet in jackson a couple weeks ago and they had my fave types on the 2/$1 sale so ive got a freezer full of bread LOL!
guineas are currently on lockdown so we dont have to play catch the guinea when WBF gets here...there rather upset lol.
otherwise having the hose pipe back is definatly helping with the morning chores...the system i have rigged seems to work fine right now untill i can replace the tap to make it work properly again.
im lso going to figure out how to splice the old hose pipe so i can take out the damaged section put it back together and use it...im thinking it should be long enough to run it over to where the vegtable garden is even if its missing that 2-3ft damaged section. least itll save me hauling the 100ft hose back and fort across the lawn (which is currently simply alarge mud patch and not even resembling a lawn lol)
ducks have once again gone on hiatus which means im going to be looking for khaki campbels instead of runners to add to the flock, im not getting rid of my runners (im hoping this on again off again laying is due to weather and such)im also hoping that as things start growing and there getting more bugs and stuff in their diet that that little issue will be sorted.
im also thinking about starting a mealworm farm specifcially for duck suplimentation (and of coure the chickens when i get some though that parts going to be a little while.)
its chilly and damp today right now, but i might go try to build the 4 beds a little later thi afternoon and put my hose pipe hanger up by the tap too...
we'll see.
goat feet and bunny nails are also on my list of to-dos asap, may get bunnies doen this afternoon since i dont have to sit on the ground to do them lol.
and doing some looking into pig stuff too...
breeder #1 sent me a picture of one piglet that had already caught my eye and shes girl, so ive told her she realy nees to send pics of all the piglets and include sexs...this ones a little more expnsive than the other breeder so im hoping shes got an equally nice male, get the male from her and 2 females form the slightly lower priced breeder...
still need to do my math before proceeding.
and yeah...thats about all i got for now.
got the heat on and im huddled in my chair surrounded by warm animal bodies...my gas heater cut out at somepoint during the night (every so often the flamejust goes out) so the house was chilly this morning.
you know...ocasionallyi do something that despite bing so silly and SMALL it makes me feel so acomplished.
asive mentioned my little gas heater (the only source of heat in my house) would randomly go out.
well toay it whent out and while the pilot would light as soon as i turned it to hold temperature it would imediatly go out...i tried a few times to get it lit with no sucess.
and ill admit, messing with a gas apliance kinda feeks me out a little.
but on whent the big girl panties, did a uick search on google and 1 screwdriver, 1 acume cleaner and som gentle cleaning later...its lit again! YAY ME.
see it seems so trivial and small, but i managed to do something id NEVER done before, On my own without someone showing me how first
im now rewarding myself with a greek yogurt with peaches, Free's due to pick up her trio of dino-birds this aftenoon, then i REALYneed to get down to cleaning this place lol
WOW its COLD out, but the 3 guineas are now on their way to thier new home with WBF where the 2 boys will have an entire flock of girls to woo! lol. and the white one will hopefully decide fairly quickly which sex it is (LOOKS female but never calls like a girl should lol)
the guinea coop will get a makeover once i can afford and become home to a small flock of something...just not sure what...
well did some calling aroudn the morning and switching to an all stock feed is going to save me a considerable amount of money even if i dont add any other livestock to the family.
so i think thats going to be the method for feeding right now...(and it might give me some leeway to start getting extra feed in to start stocking up for the winter.
i also found wher emy "lazy" ducks have been laying...this morning i noticed an egg half burried...took the egg and theres 6 more BURRIED under the hay around it. brought them in will be setting up the brinsea in a few and will probably try setting these, they were well insulated and from what im reading we should be good for about 14 days after collection assuming they were moved regularly (and with the girls using a communla nest its likley they have been.
im going to have to go though the duck coop with fine tooth though in the next few days t be sure i havent missed any other burried clutches...had it not been for the 1 egg on the very top id hve ever even seen it, the straw was perfeclty flat...nice job at hiding it girls, now if youd sat on it lol....
either way im glad they are laying. and being this first hatch is more of a "play with the incubator" type setting im not too worried about wasting eggs right now...
but it WOULD be nice to get a good hatch in time for easter if i set them in the next few days i should hve ducklings that weekend.
and once the incubator is "proven" i can set more and let my goosey guy know to send me a couple of eggs too
the brinsea can handle up to 20 duck ags at once accoding to the book so...
still trying to figure out the pig stuff, and still waiting for more pictures...
need a roll of fencing and some t-posts to pull this off, ive got the insulators and electric fence wire but i need a pen to kepe them in unitll they learn the fence.
and yeah..ive got some stuff to get done then a hot steamy date with my shower
