Pink, I feel for ya! It reminds me of a time back in 2001 ago when I had 12 goats deliver within 36 hours. SEVEN does deliveried ALL AT THE SAME TIME - smack dab in the middle of Tropcal Storm Allison. It wasn't a very violent storm but it dropped close to 40 inches of rain on the Houston area within a few days.

I had goats everywhere, in regular pens and in temporary pens. I was plum OUT of pens so I had two does stuck in a side shed. While I was in the barn delivering one baby after another - I had a short break to run over to the temporary shed and check on the two other does. They were both delivering...one had jumped up on a hay bale and it was a good thing because there was about 6 inches of water in the shed. The other one was standing up, squatting and had a baby coming out that I just managed to grab before it landed head first in the water... oh my...what a night!

I hope your night goes MUCH better than that night went for me.... I was exhausted but my goat herd more than doubled in about a day and a half, lol!!

Do you know how to check the ligaments in the does rump? It's a great indicator of impending birth.

Good luck and here's hoping they'll both go within the next hour or so and you can get some sleep!

Well, if you have any corks the right size, you can shove one in one gal while you're attending to the other. And, tell her to keep her legs crossed as well. :hide

Pinky, I have never known a goat to kid at night. Usually it's between dawn and mid day IME. Lots of "goat people" say that too. I dunno why though :hu

Okay, here's a good one for you... I used to hear folks say that if they fed their goats twice a day they'd get more nighttime kiddings. I only feed once a day now that I'm not showing - and last year I only had daytime kiddings. I dunno.....

But, in past 20+ years that I've been doing this, I've, unfortunately, had plenty of nighttime kiddings. :( Wonder if there's any difference between pygmy goats and dairy types???

Hmm...I dunno. I did once read that on a dairy goat site though. Several folks have told me that since then :hu
