lol!

they got on the van this morning, no problems, wanred her jasper is a little nervous and while hes never nipped he might be a little terrified...but I handed him off none chalantly he had this "umm wtf" look on his face but didn't growl so hopefuly he wont give them any issues. ruby was all like YAY tranger, lets go for a ride...lol

on the way home picked up a new hay storage system...
its a 10x15 fully enclosed "pop up" portable car enclosure...gets good reviews...
usually $300...but the time I got the sales price and added my coupon I got it with taxes for just about 1/2 price.
now gotta put the dang thing together but figure if I cn build one of those metal arrow sheds alone this should be cake! lol

so that's on the weekend to do list, since ive got other projects first and the hay isn't in quite so much of a rush.

got home, ac guy was here, they alo do full elerctical o hes gona give me a quote to upgrade to 200amp too which will giveme my 2 electrical quotes and 2 ac quotes, lowes hasn't called me back for an appointment so im not gonna chase them down for it...I know they use subcontractors so obviously their sub doesn't need the work...

realy need to get a 2nd quote for replacing the back door, and the attic insulation but im not too worried if I cant...usda will have to deal...
this just leaves me waiting on the 2 septic quotes. gonna call the electrician tomorrow and see when his frend can come out...and call the other sepcit guy tomorrow and see when he can get me a written bid...he doesn't even have to sign anything, just need the price, his name and number and licence number...so could probably do all that via email...

then onc he left I hauled the 2 pieces of welded wire down to the run off gully.. got mauled by seeters and had a lovely conversation with a turtle who decided to observe casually....
managed to get that wired up in place and secure...so now all I have to o is take y pruning sheres and the weed wacker out to finish clearing the lines...then its a case of unplug the existing fence, dismantle where I need to, re-use the step ins I need and get her wired up and usable.
HOPING to finnish that Friday!

oce that was done I decied it was too hot and sticky to do anyore fence work...so in I came and started housework instead. the kitchen got blitzed, still need to scru the countertop an finnish upsome dishes (ran out of room) but EVERYTHING form the tove to the cabinates got scrubbed...
itterboxes and bircages are also done and the back bedroom vaccumed.
just cooling off again and then ill vacume the living room and clean the floor in here....

by the time all that's doe itll be time to put everyone to bed, make dinner and chill for the night. the bathroom and my bedroom can wait until tomorrow.

up early in the morning to go pick up the dogs, will probably eturn the extra spools or wire and if I don't have enough step ins to finish the job will pickup what I need, they open at 8 and the dogs are due to arrive back at 8 so hoping the dogs are running a tad late so I can run in as soon as tsc opens get what I need done and be out of there before the van arrives lol.
I need to be sure I have EVEYRTHING I need before I turn off the current fence and start cutting wires lol.

busy busy bumblebee!

well...were home :)
they both did extremely well, apparently everyone at the clinic LOVED them and I was lucky to get them back, even nervous nelly Jasper (who when away form me and not feeing the need to protect his moma/territory" is a love bug) had a fan club, and one tech who has cresties couldn't stop commenting on how gorgeous they are and how shes never seen cresties in such good condition and that asper has all his teeth...
teyeven insisted on the paperwork that my 4 yr old nekki boy is only 2 because hes still got alost al his teeth (cresties tend to start loosing their teeth at 2 years old, their teeth are shallow rooted and its linked to the gene that makes them nekid...meaning their teeth don't have a ood firm grip in the gum. (called "primitive mouth")

anywho, picked em up, they did great, got em home, gave em there breakfast and tada, good to go.
ruy I think is feeling a little more sorry for herself than jasper, shes in her crate (open) sleeping it off. jaseprs acting like his normal self lol.

once they were settled I hit up the fence line with the weed wackedr and pruning sheres one last time, added some extra posts to the open pasture area where the ground evel changes enough to be a problem lol...

so...
now...
next step:
haul a couple bales of hay over to the spot which will be the new piggy house
THEN
turn off the current fence, clip the wires, attatch new fence to old fence and move the step ins not currently in use untothe back woods where the ground again changes levels to make sure that ottom wire doesn't ground out...with the pigs the bottom wire has to e relitivly low (8") so if im going to have issues, THATS where itll happen lol.

once that's all done ill unclip the pigs fence form the electic befoe plugging the main fence back in..then ca go to work removing the pigs fence so they can have pasture acess to...they already have goat acess, since reaking their current house aspen jumps in and out of their pen like its nothing...found him stood ON sage an hour ago...sage being fast asleep in h mud wallow the past few days rain has created for them lol.

almost done! VERY excited about it.
so gonna go finnish it up, then can come in take a shower and call it a success before heading out with friends tonight :)

this means tomorrow becomes "move hay and straw so I can build my new hay shelter" day lol.

holy heck I actually did it!

the new fence is hooked up, turned on and pulsing right where it should be (meaning no grounds on the wire :D)
tomorrow ive got to take down the current pig pen so the pigs can have acess too but I ran out of steam by the time I finished wrestling with the wire I didnt need/needed to be removed.

the goats are sufficiently confused...they stand there where the wire should be and kinda inch forward of stretch their necks a little bit to try and figure out f the now empty space also bites lol.
aspen (surprise surprise) was the first to cross into no-goats land but even then it was only a foot or so lol.

im REALY proud of myself for getting that done. been putting it off for a while and its finally done...now just gotta put all that space to work paying for itself!
LOL.

came in...and had a shower and now taking a few moments to re-group.
out with friends this eveing so ive gotta get dressed and make sure everyones fed and settled in for the night before leaving, wont be home until after dark and I hate putting everyone to bed via flashlight

oh and lilly is making soe serious effort to NOT be in the barn lol. shes not walking yet, but shes up enough that she can get herself out of the barn and into the grass where she eats in a big circle around herself before moving to a new spot.
im actually hoping this helps, acess to fresh greens should hopefully encourage her to walk, move, stand and help her build her strength.
shes certainly determind!

I can see why you'd be tired! And, I've been wondering how Lily was doing. Sounds like she's really doing good. Are you still putting her in the sling for awhile?

yah ivebee putting her in the sling for about 30 mins 3-4 times a day, but obviously ony supervised and to be honest I think shes rolling her eyes at me about it...
kinda gives me this "I learning on my own silly human" look and justhange there like a pinyata lol. hecki think hes mking more progress without my help than with lol.

I actualy am realy proud of myself boutthe fence...most of myfreinds a go "yay you" but youcan tel most of the have absolutely NO idea how hard it is to put up a fence around apoximatly 3 1/2 acresof mixed brus weed and woodland...and yes 4 strand electric is cetinly easie tha tensile wire or welded wire ect...but its still hard work, especially along in TN heat, so its nice to now I can come here with my congratulatory happy dance and know you guys "get it" lol

had a great time hangingout with frineds this afternoon, one frined had is lng distance gf from England with him, so it was fun talking "home" with her lol, everyone was ost confused by our discussion of the purple flavor....
in the uk purple is my favorite flavor...black currant...
in the us they replace he amazing black currant with something they claim to be grape...YUCK (and I like grapes)...and this I call it purple flavor since there a ultural difference, and she knew EXACTLY what I was talking about lol.
shes from much further south than from were I from though and no one at the table could understand why our accents were SOOO different...I mean England is such a small country its impossible that we all sound different right?! lol see, where shes from its a much more "proper" speech pattern, close to London, more 'correct" and "defined" me...im from the Midwest of England,, our area is considered "common as muck" and we talk like it too lol.

so it was eve more fun than normal...
though we had a new guy there this time around who insisted on telling the 2 girls FROM England directy that the northern American (ct/ny/boston type) accent is actually MORE ike the true british accent...*DOH!* we both kinda looked at eachother...something common acros the uk is our ability to grit our teeth and sie and be polite even if we want to sack a person....but I think my gay friend (hwo this guy had been lecturing theater and fashion to only10 mins before) was about ready to slap the guy lol.
I broke the arkwardness by telling him while it ould be lovely to hae a time machine an actually go back and HEAR the voices of the past (his theory based soley on the way shakespear writes) unfortunately we don't have one and now people in England talk like me...or he other british person at the table..or in one of the other 1000 different dialects found across our tiny little peiceof green we calla country. lol.

woot woot!

orchard fence fixed (some of the wires had gotten messed up from too much strain on the corner post)
1 of my 2 little red coops is moved (and the goats are currently using it as a club house) 1 more to go but I need help with that one, they are heavy!
and the piggy fence is removed...
the pigs however think this is a trck ad haven't yet managed to summon the courage to cross where the line used to be.

So now that's done I can start focusing on the next project.
building my new hay storage...
and then after that, I need to build a couple more rabbit cages (grow out primarily) and some quail cages, cortinux are my next project, especialy with the dogs now being on raw.
got to measure up the wire I have and figure out exactly what I can do with it. I need 1 more angora cage, 2 large lop cages and at least a couple large grow out bunny pens
I terms of quail id reay like 2-4 breeding colonies and 2-4 grow out pens. I pretty much wnt to have a constant supply of cortinux both for meat, eggs and breeder replacement.
thinking I want jumbo browns or TX A&M's for size.

so yeha those are "the projects" right now.

but the pan for the rest of the day is fairly simple.
got to head nto tow to the bank and deposit some cash so can put my deposit n my dobie pup...
then head to E's to pick up milk and tomatos (she got a bunch of romas and doesn't want them so im going to turn them into chucky pasta sauce and diced tomatoes (might as wel start on the pantry re-stock now lol
then I gotta get back here as ive got a bunny going home and same girshould be putting deposits on 3 of the rex babies too...with the other guy interested in taking 2 girls, this girl interested in a boy and 2 girls and me keeping a lilac it gives me just 2 castor boys and 1 meaty mix boy to sell, and if they don't sell they are freezer fodder!

I ove when a litter sells out befoe thy are even weaned lol.

so gonna go get all that stuff done...which involves putting on clean pants. lol.
laters!

whew, busy day.
after all the morning stuff, got home, gave everyone hay, did some titivating, bunny buyer arrived, took her mix boy, deposits on 3 rex and her mother bought the other mix boy...this means ive ust got 2 castor rex bucks to find homes for ready on Aug 10th.

hoping to get all the does bred this weekend...

but in all the goo had a bad, I don't know what happened but I found one of the ebden goslings dead :/ was fine this morning, not sure what happened...
this gives me 1 embden and 2 female poms, realy hoping the embden left is a male so at least, even though not pure ill have some babies in the spring :/

*pouts*

sitting down for a drink, then gonna go measure up and write down what wire ive got for cage building and start on those plans.
also got to make a desert for a get together with some frineds for tomorrow...
I apparently caught a sudden case of "get things done" lol

yuck, math lol
measured up my wire an been working on my quail designs.

right now assuming my math ist completely broken I can build 4 24x24 breeder cages, and 1 48x24 grow out cage.
I figure ill start with 2 breeding groups, then about 1 year later, fill the other 2 breeder cages, retire group 1 at 2 years and replace with a new group 1, and alternate back and forth, ive read that their best production is first year but theylll generally give larger eggs their second year, and lay up to 3 years...so I figure if I keep alternating out at 2 years they shouldn't outlive their production usefulness (and 2 yr old quail is still perfectly good for meat for the dogs.
figure ill set an incubator full of eggs evey 4 weeks, that way by the time chick group 1 is ready for processing, chick group 2 should be ready to go outside so 1 big grow out cage should work with that rotation.
im also thinking ill use the wood form the old rabbit hutches to turn into an outdoor brooder so I dot have to be brooding quail in my back bedroom year round.
if I set it close enough to the laundry room I can easily run an extension cord out to provide heat for when the weather gets chilly to power a heat lamp.

oh boy...crazy crazy! lol.

oh well time to go bed down the critters before the rains come in...
and then dinner...ive got minute venison steaks so im thinking of making a cheesesteak type sammich out of those with a side salad with lueberries...and mellon for desert...yes yes...
