I know right?! im actually realy excited, I got started in bunnies for the meat aspect and right now I rarely have any kept back to put in the freezer (still trying to break even from the creation of the bunny patch lol)
but the quail...they are going to be primarily a "ME" production, ill sell eggs ONLY when I have enough to hatch my next batch of meaties...
ive gotta do the math to se how many im going to need per week for feeding the dogs, add a couple per week for me (1 quail is a serving for me :D) and mae sure im hatching and raising enough...ONLY when that math is good will extras be sold. lol. what im saving in dog food shoul pay for the feed so it wont save me money in the beginning, but it should at least keep me even.

Today Bonnie and Clyde the pyr pups are getting their first taste of running with ducks and geese, bonnie already got a wing to thenose from dandelion, and Clyde got chased by mr puddle duck whos apparently feeling frisky (I have to wonder if hes who killed the embden, there was no damage and no signs of illess so I wonder if he stressed the poor thing to death..either way ive got plans to move the ducks to the main pasture once the next few projects are done.

the goats also decided to start exploing the new pasture, glory and buttercup were bounding through the tall weeds while aspen was leading the way :)
the pigs?! still not sure if this is all just a trick LOL!

todays plan is to start working on my new hay shelter there warning of showers but id at least like to get the frame built
but first, breakfast on the back deck :)

well it took be 3 hours (since I took 2 30 in breaks) but the frame to the new hay storage facility is now UP!
other than being arkward, (its 9.5ft at the peak and im only 5'8" lol) it whent up pretty easily once I had everything laid out and borrowed the neighbors aframe step ladder.

its 10x15x9.5 and should be big enough for about 50 square bales of hay (or a combination of hay and straw)

im going to pull my pallets tomorrow and make a "floor" and sit the entire frame upon the pallets. this way I can bolt the frame ot the pallets and use the groundanchor kit...with the weight of the hay and the pallets AND the ground anchor kit holding it down I don't see it going anywhere n anything but a tornado...and thatwould be more likely to rip thwhole thing apart at that point.

I did learn a valuable lesson...grey metal tubes when lay in the sun for a few hours get VERY hot! LOL! my only injuries were a few minor "burns"

once its up on the pallet floor and squared up and olted down the cover should go on fairly easily and eregood to go.

yay for meccno/construction sets as a kid! lol.

but im done for today I think...
going to take a shower and chill for a lil bit before hanging out with some frineds this afternoon/evening.

one thing that did make this harder was my bloodsugar decided to go WILD....
I had my usual for breakfast so not sure what happened but it took 2 peaches and a 16oz bottle of NONE diet mountain dew to get me leveld back out.
I sat for a few mins and the beighbor brought out the dew...I don't typically drink soda, esepcally if its not diet...but it seemed to do the tick and within about 30 mins I was feeling ok enough to finnish up the frame

as weird as they are, they realy do seem to try to be nice... said hes gona have the mowerout a little later if itdoesnt rain and will mow my front yard for me again so...

anywho...
very proud of myself!

heres what it loks like right now...gain its NOT squared up or bolted down and there will be rails along thebottoms too (btu they go on when you put the cover on as they slide into the cover lie poles on a tent.)

you may have gotten dehydrated.

A friend of ours uses those little cans of pineapple juice if his bloodsugar starts to go south on him.

definatly could be dehydration, I know ive not been drinking enugh over the last few days...im also duefor my b12 shot which probably doesn thelp so im going to give myself that this afternoon too...
I find since surgery pure juice tends to be too much, but fruit itelf tends to be the easiest way this is the first time ive ever hd to hit the soda...
I ealy should get a gucose monitor, I don't spike like diabetes does, but whe it drops to that point...I know I don't even feel yucky until its "dangerous" as my dr put it lol. bbut those finger pricks HURT (and I have a pretty deacent pain tolerance lol)

lunch is in the making which should now keep the sugar stabilized (prtein and slow release carbs) from the quick fix of the soda and fruit.

the biggest issue I and many other hypoglycemisbypass patienshave is hen they start on a hypoglycemic episode they know the easiest way to make it go away is to feed it sugar....but then they don't balance out the fast sugar with slow release sugar and protein and sped the day having to FEED the hypoglycemia by continuing to feed it fast acting sugar to keep it from dropping again...
I try to avoid that nasty little cycle by hitting something fast release like fruit (juice/soda if im desperate) and then followingup about 20-30 mins later with a combination of slow release carbs, healthy fat and Protein...so right now that means theres a open faced turkey sammich sitting under the broiler. 1 slice hearty whole grain sporuted bread, a litte it of real butter, about 3 oz of turkey couple thin slices of tomato, and some goats milk cheese.
im actually very excited to eat it...and sine im ot an "eater" anymore...I must realy need it lol.

And some hypoglycemics (like me) were brushed off by their doctors and told to just eat a candy bar if our sugar level dropped. I had to learn the hard way how to control mine.

Pinky, the frame looks good. Depending on how big your bales are, you may be able to get more than 50 bales in there.

ive noticed that too deb, when I was first diagnosed I was just told "drinkjuice" or "keep crackers in your purse" but after the urgery it got worse and I didn't know how bad it s until that last blood sugar test my new dr did and he told me I SHOULD be passed out when al I felt was a ittle tired.
it was fine up ntill about 3 hours ago then tarted dacing again seems t have balanced out now but took my body temperature on the craz train, had to sit wit an iceback on te back of my neck for about an hour before I felt normal again lol

hoping tomorrow goes a wee bit less crazy lol.

would be great ifi can fit more in..the woman im getting the 30 bales from emailed me today told me the ay is weedier than she likes to feed to her horses so shes got another 10 bales I can have for $1 a piece lol. hat gives me 40 bales there, and 10 bales from another friend whos holding...and I realy would like to have enough space to put my strawbales in there too lol.

I DID IT!!!
:celebrate

im thinking I can probably fit 3 rows or 8, and I could probably go 4 high...
that potential room for about 96 bales!

I put it up on pallets as a "floor"
the bales you can see out in the back are "losses" those are ones that got wet and have strted to mold, they will be tossed into the veggie beds ith goat and rabbit bedding and left to compost down ready for next spring. waste not want not. ended up loosing 2 bale of hay and 3 bales of straw to wetness...and 1 bale of straw to a can of wasp killer, there was a hornets nest, a BIG one so to be safe I not only drowned the hornet nest in hornet iller but I drenched half the bale too! obviously that it now no longer bedding safe as I don't want the cirtters potentially chewing on the pesticide soaked stuff.
not bad considering though...
his moth im going to take care of getting my hay put up... but if ive got some extra cash at the end of next month ill have my straw guy deliver me 10 bales too.

I screwed it down to the pallets and used the gorund anchor kit, so it shoudnt be going anywhere any time soon..i hope lol.

now im tired...getting the cover up was harder than I thought it woul be, much harder than doing the frame. but mission accomplished!

this month im now going to be focusing on building cages for quail :)

but yeah...for today...im DONE, im hot, im achey and itchy and I think I going to have a small owl of icecream in celebration later :D :ya
