The cards are awesome. You sure do great work.

I hope you feel better soon. You sound like me with blowing the nose. Seems that's all I've done today. Sure makes for a sore nose.

Our local Walmart did away with their craft department last year. I can get some at the hardware store in town, but most of the time I need to go 30-45 min. away.

What is your first sewing project?
PG,

Last week I bought some receiving blankets from Goodwill. I cut those into fourths and started hand stitching the ends. When I got the sewing machine, I finished those up real quick.

A few days ago I got 2 curtain toppers 72" long each. The are navy & ecru plaid. I'm going to cut those into napkins and use the excess to make an oven mitt. Then I'm going to look for solid navy fabric to make an apron. All these should be pretty easy. I'm going to give it all as a BBQ theme birthday gift.

Kind of a sad and crappy day. I noticed Shadow (our 16 yr old dog) was hardly able to walk. I know he hasn't eaten for days. He made it back to the garage to lay on his pillow. Around 3:00, I saw him in the yard unable to get up and he was crying out. I asked DH to please put him out of his misery. With tears streaming down his cheeks, he did. We both knew it was time. It's still terribly sad. :hit Now, Cocoa is alone outside. She sleeps on dog beds in the garage. I closed the doors tonight to help keep her warm.

Right after we burried Shadow, we had to head out to the funeral home to see one of my best friend's mother. She had a massive stroke over the weekend and passed away early Sunday morning. She was 83, had battled breast cancer once and won, abdominal cancer last year and seemed to be winning, but unknowingly it has spread to her brain. She was a lively and fun person.

While at the funeral home, I got an order for 100 tomato plants. That was good.

I started marking the lines for cutting up the curtain toppers for napkins. I think I will have enough left over for an oven mitt. Now, I just need some navy material to make an apron and my BBQ themed gift will be almost complete.

I found alot of easy beginner sewing patterns online. One is a really cute purse made from a placemat. I'm gonna head back to Goodwill to see if I can find some.

Tomorrow, we are supposed to have a major cold front come through. Thursday, it's expected to get down to 10 degrees (freezing smiley here) Now, I know that's not that cold to all you good folk up north, but here, it's major news. I'm gonna go put some extra hay in the chicken coops tomorrow to help keep it a little warmer.

I hate cold weather. :rant

So sorry about the dog. Even knowing it was going to come its tough. And sorry about your friends Mom too. Sounds like she was a fighter.

You sound like you are getting the same weather I am. We are suppose to get to 16 Thurusday. I know that some are getting negative temps but to us Southerners anything close to freezing is cold.

Punkin you are probably like me. Not set up for cold weather at all. I will have to leave work early tomorrow to get home in time to rig up some type of extra heat for my chickens. This afternoon when I fed it was colder in their house than it was outside. I have one heat lamp in there but its not going to be enough for them Wednesday and Thrusday night.

Congrats on the tomato plant order. Sounds like you might do well selling them where you are.

Can you post a link to the purse made out of a placemat? That sounds neat! I see placemats at our Goodwill all the time.

Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. I know some people think it's silly to cry over a dog, but, then, maybe they aren't "dog people".

Nope, 2D, we aren't set up for cold weather at all. Although, the coop was warm enough this morning at 17 degrees outside. We even had a "special" weather statement for tonight and tomorrow night about maybe being in the single digits. Yikes!! I'm going to bring in the outside waterers into the house tonight.

This morning is bright and sunny and it is a brand new day. :weee

I'm going to head off to the grocery store, Goodwill and maybe Hobby Lobby.

Oh, punkin! What a hard day you had. Hugs your way!

Agatha Christie's character, Miss Jane Marple used to say, "Its so hard to know the right thing to do". But I think, it is closer to the truth to say: It is so hard to do the right thing at times.
