punkin, you sound like me! I am so ready to get my fingers in the dirt and get the garden going!

I wonder how much this place will slow down during the day as warmer weather gets here and we all start working outdoors more!

Well . . . good intentions. I was planning on getting the cabbages and brocolli seeded this morning. While I was waiting on the greenhouse to warm up, I decided to run to Goodwill and United Grocery. Again, got some great material at Goodwill. I wanted to see if the grocery store had any lettuce or tomatoes on clearance for the chickens. They did. I got 2 heads of lettuce & 3 tomatoes for less than $1.50. Came back around 1:00 to feed the chickens and I noticed a noise coming from the greenhouse. I looked and water was gushing from the pipe that goes to the sink. It had probably been thawed for 4-5 hours. Thank goodness we have a well. So, my DH being smarter than the average bear, had installed a cutoff. Turned that off and he will replace the pipes tomorrow. It got much colder last night than predicted.

I'll get the broccoli and cabbage done tomorrow. :/

Earlier, I got 3 flats of broccoli planted. Two are already spoken for. I was going to do the cabbage, but could not find my seed. I looked at my order forms and realized I hadn't received them yet. I ordered them from Shumway's on 1/05.

I called cust. service to inquire about the shipping status. She said it may take up to 14 days to receive them.

I rec'd my Johnny's shipment in 5 days (from Maine, ordered same day) and Park's I received in 7 days.

I'm disappointed in their turn around time and probably will not order from them again.:(

I finished one purse made from a placemat and completed a pocketbook from a pair of jeans. I lined the placemat purse with an ironing board cover from Goodwill. I have approx. $6.50 in both. The most expensive thing was wooden handles for the placemat purse.

I am very pleased with the way they turned out.

Love those purses. Did you line the jean one?

Glad to hear about your experience with Shumway. I was considering an order myself. Keep us posted.

Great looking projects, punkin!

You make me jealous with your garden starts already.

Sorry to hear about Shumways. We've always had good luck with them. Did they say why the cabbage seeds were delayed?

Thanks, Kel.
No reason for delay other than "We have no control over the USPS" I replied that they delivered the seeds in a timely manner from the other 4 orders. I have to wait until Jan. 29th before they consider them lost. I ask them to cancel, but they couldn't since they were already in transit. Am I being too impatient? I think 2 weeks is plenty of time.

No, I didn't line the jean one. It seemed to have enough "bulk" alone.
I don't want to discourage you ordering, I'm just relaying my own experience. If you do order, you may want to take the extra shipping time into consideration.

Thanks. Na . . . these are just really, really easy. I'm really getting into the idea of repurposing inexpensive items. Who new an old placemat could be a purse.

Still no cabbage seed today. If they don't come tomorrow, I may have to scour our local stores for them.

It was 60 degrees here today and pretty window. I got to hang out 3 loads of laundry.

Kind of got upset with DS's friends because of their lack of effort with their homeschool work. They aren't even trying. I told them they are wasting their time and my time. Something has to change.

The paper co. that DH contracts for finally brought over some map parcels for him to look at. Also, gave him a quota increase, so that was good.

I got a few of my comic books listed for sale on ebay today. We paid $.50 each for them as a collection. Any bid above that will be profit.
